Did Brian Eno make one of the first rap tracks

Listening to "Dead Finks Don't Talk" I'm convinced of this, listen to the rap! Also, regarding Eno's foresightedness, doesn't "The Heavenly Music Corporation" from "No Pussyfooting" with Fripp pre-empt "solliquy for lilith" by Nurse With Wound. Wow, this guy Eno was really something, what's he up to nowadays?

Aromatherapy, or something like that. ;)

I suppose, if you consider the Police's "Be My Girl - Sally" rap.

Nate Patrin, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And what if I do?
(actually I haven't heard it)

Anas FK, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Then you would also consider Velvet Underground's Murder Mystery as rap.

Redd Foxx was rappin' when Lou Reed was in short pants. ( Same with Pigmeat Markham, Moms Mabley, and Bo Diddley. )

the mothers of invention debut double album Freak Out featuring honky/who cares social commentary on Watts Riots in LA (hit the Afro-American people) in "trouble coming every day" -- how much was this album parody of Blonde on Blonde (wasn't it just coincidence ?)

george gosset, Saturday, 29 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

but didnt they record it BEFORE "B. on B."? (dunno, have to check. thats what i thought tho.) (PS yeah anyway that song doesnt actually sound any more like "rap" than "Subterranean homesick Blues" really)

Matt Riedl (veal), Saturday, 29 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not claiming it was a direct influence on rap or anything, robbing de black man of his rightful heritage, it's just a pleasing little anomaly. Actually, it was more like a proto-Streets than a proto-eminem.

Anas FK, Saturday, 29 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Eno invented funk.

Keiko, Saturday, 29 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)
