Papa Roach - "She Loves Me Not"

The sound of a band that took a while but finally figured out what it was good at. Straight Phil Rudd/disco-rock beat, bit of shuffle on the verse vocals to give the whole thing a little lilt, gives way to this helical chorus progression where the vocals sound a bit like good Bad Religion. No awkward rapping, and the musicians aren't competent enough to ruin this with anything more than what it needs. I've always sort of rooted for these guys since they're this ragtag, racially vague bunch from a town near Sacramento named for its cows (Vacaville) and most famous for its mental hospital, but I've never really liked anything I heard from them before. This song is great though.

Mtv early this morning was just an embarrassment of riches: Kelly Osbourne getting all zaftigfunky off of giftwrapped nu-wave, Papa Roach, Kid Rock wiping his ass with Radiohead toilet paper, the Strokes explaining the line "this place is a zoo" with a green cartoon dinosaur, P.O.D. putting their puma gear to work at a ping pong tournament...

I turn this off everytime it comes on, so I'm don't feel qualified to comment. . .But that Kid Rock video. My my. That was a GOOD laugh. (the radiohead bit anyway. the rest not so much. AMERICA R0015 D00D!)

Best Papa Roach song I've heard? Yes. It is nevertheless bad. Further proof that modern rock is actually a heaping pile of shit. I was listening to "Wait and Bleed" by Slipknot today at first thinking, "wow this is great!" when of course it isn't great at all but is simply much better than anything else out there.

"Life's not fair!". Wow.
