Just got it from Kazaa. Sounds like someone has been listening to lots of brasilian funk. Its very very good

Chupa-Cabras, Sunday, 30 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Len used to be big scary heavy metal band, but they werent that:
a)scary
b) heavy or c) band.
Len can die a painful death. Usual reaction from those who heard their pre-steal sunshine crap is "It wouldnt be Len if it didnt suck."

Mr Noodles, Sunday, 30 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it's important to note that YCSTB doesn't suck!

bc, Monday, 1 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You sure they didn't mean Mr. Len?

Nate Patrin, Monday, 1 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Is this the same Len that did Steal My Sunshine?

bc: Here's the sense I could make of it: http://www.epinions.com/content_34410303108

I find the premise of that article - that Len are a modern "garage rock" with no - a little half-baked, especially when there is a very knowing line in 'If You Steal My Sunshine', the one that goes "keep it dumb, and built to beat"

Fantastic song, the piano bit has always reminded me of something krautrocky - but I've never been able to put my finger on it, and the echoey ping-pong sounds are just incredible. I don't see how it can be called an awful song. The writers claim that it is redeemed by being 'fun' sounds similar to people 'ironically' liking pop-music to justify their listening habi

Chew: Hmmm...so you think that they self-conciously set out to be a Pop one hit wonder, a la KLF (tho even the KLF lasted a bit longer than Len)? That takes away some of the innocence that I love about the record (tho that wouldn't be the first time that happens).

As for the idea of ironic fun, allow me to quote Dave Marsh- "when the thrill's the thing, who the fuck cares about intenions?"

Daniel_Rf, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

they have a new album coming out this year!

bc, Wednesday, 3 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Rokk! Rokk! Rokk!

the song that this thread is named after is actually really good. also i am dangerously close to becoming re-addicted to "steal my sunshine" now that it's summer

dyl, Thursday, 13 June 2013 19:25 (thirteen years ago)

I am always dangerously addicted to Steal my Sunshine. Thanking you Amon I am stealing that gif.

Fantastic track! As soon as summer hits here in Oregon I'm pulling this one out of my back pocket and letting Portland know what time it is! In the meantime I'll be looking for a way to buy the album? It seems to be un available on iTunes in the U.S.?

I can never decide if whether I prefer "Steal My Sunshine" or Andrea True's "More, More, More" (where the piano sample came from). They are both pretty A+ in my book.

I was 23 years old when this song was out. It was a lot easier days back then. I can tell you that.. Cruising my 97 z 28 all I worried about was getting chicks and making money. Now divorced three times and mom has cancer the last ex wife is a truly brutal bitch makes my life hell everyday. Man I just wouldnt change a thing...

This is like 'steal my sunshine' sans the awesome sample, therefore, dud.

Wait, they were a heavy metal band? Is there any youtube evidence?

Moka, Thursday, 13 June 2013 20:44 (thirteen years ago)

doesn't seem very metal:
