Start with the Rhino anthology and go from there. the guy is an amazing, peerless songwriter and his canon must surely be bolstered with every passing year.

my favourites are the s/t record and 'goodbye and hello'
he does the dark stuff much better than the whimsical. search tracks like 'song slowly song', the glorious 'phantasmagoria in two' and 'knight-errant'. the previously mentioned 'hallucinations' is excellent as well.
