Trying to decide which, if any, of his albums I should get. So far, I really like the song 'Hallucinations'.

There's an amamzing Peel Sessions recording from April 19698 of Halluciations and Troubador on One I Was. I'd say get this one over the Peel sessions disc cause there is more tracks. Hopefully soon somone will reissue Starsailor and Blue Afternoon.

Are the individual albums available on cd? Dunno.

If not, and you end up looking for them on used vinyl, you definitely can't go wrong Goodbye and Hello, Happy Sad, and Starsailor. Also worth picking up is Blue Afternoon, but not essential.

another Paul puts Blue Afternoon first, then Starsailor, Greetings From L.A., Lorca and Happy/Sad - in that order.

Many of my friends are Buckley fanatics but the only one they've managed to get me interested in is the more experimental jazzy "Lorca"

Why is this man a cult?

The Cult is Ian and Billy.

I just got Starsailor. Wow is it good. I still can't understand why this isn't in print.

Lorca = heroin jazz odyssey = hard going (for me anyhow, but i don't take heroin)

e. i envy you having the joy of discovering this stuff for the first time and remember how profoundly his music affected me.

Start with the Rhino anthology and go from there. the guy is an amazing, peerless songwriter and his canon must surely be bolstered with every passing year.

two years pass...

my favourites are the s/t record and 'goodbye and hello'

he does the dark stuff much better than the whimsical. search tracks like 'song slowly song', the glorious 'phantasmagoria in two' and 'knight-errant'. the previously mentioned 'hallucinations' is excellent as well.

not my favourite Buckley period, but I'll definitely be getting this

some Starsailor-era live stuff would be fantastic.
