POO: Sylvian

For the small sect of Sylvian sycophants out there: the one song that you would consider to be his best composition. Mine would have to be the flawless "Endgame".

I prefer Gone to Earth as his finest solo album, but I would find it hard to pick a song from that cd. I guess I would have to choose Orpheus. His voice works extremely well in such a folk/jazz 6/8 setting. Mark Isham's trumpet is truly stunning on the piece, as is the norm when Sylvian chooses to work with a horn player.

My favourite sylvian song would have to 'pocket full of change' from the rain tree crow collaboration....fantastic

Forbidden Colours 4evah. All songs referencing Mishima are magically great. see: Final Fantasy's "This Lamb Sells Condos"

i mean i know it's not strictly his composition, but right now i'm finding it hard to think of a more devastating song in his catalogue

although "brilliant trees" comes pretty close. i hope the new album is basically just crooning over drones

"Orpheus" is flawless, isn't it?

While there are many others I'd choose for a POO, "September" in all it's briefness is particularly devestating. I always play it when summer ends and fall arrives, maybe that's part of why I find it so moving.
