I know you've all been waiting just as eagerly as I have!!
Jimmy CliffGenesisThe HolliesKissLL Cool JRed Hot Chili PeppersABBAThe ChantelsDarlene LoveLaura NyroThe StoogesDonna Summer
Twelve acts enter, five acts leave! Will this finally be the Stooges' year?? Can you believe Kiss finally got onto a ballot? Won't it be a travesty if the Peppers make it before Iggy Pop? I can hardly contain my anticipation!

please feel free to write new lyrics regarding this years nominees
if donna summer makes it and genesis doesn't, will geir explode?
― scott seward, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 18:26 (sixteen years ago)
though to be fair, geir is actually a donna summer fan, i think.
oh, wait, geir will explode if LL makes it and Genesis doesn't.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 18:27 (sixteen years ago)
i think LL deserves this honor more than anyone. he makes hard rock jams for hard rock fans.
to be fair to the peps, they got a r&r nod before any of those bands they took on in that song, so they pretty much win

Seriously, man. Uncle L deserves this. Once he gets in, I hope he's changed to top billing on the new NCIS: Los Angeles

I'd vote:
LL Cool JKissThe HolliesDonna SummerThe Stooges
and then have them unite for an all-star cover of Two Different Worlds.

genesis would be first proggers to get in, right?
― velko, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 18:37 (sixteen years ago)
would laura nyro be the first dead person to get in?
― dad a, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 18:38 (sixteen years ago)
you're pretty dumb
― Emmet Otter's Sug Ban Christmas (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 18:39 (sixteen years ago)
Which is why I'm sure they won't. They'll induct Collins as a solo act first just to avoid dealing with the Gabriel years.
― neither good nor bad, just a kid like you (unperson), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 19:02 (sixteen years ago)
why the hell would wenner et al be embarrassed by peter gabriel-era genesis and not phil collins' solo career?
― da croupier, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 19:48 (sixteen years ago)
i mean yeah that shit is cheese but I don't see why they'd be so desperate to have "sussudio" in
Can you believe Kiss finally got onto a ballot?
They're on the ballot, but not in the Hall.
The whole thing is utterly meaningless, though.
― Alex in NYC, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 20:26 (sixteen years ago)
Hahaha you understand who Jann Wenner is, right?
― Pancakes Batman (Pancakes Hackman), Wednesday, 23 September 2009 21:56 (sixteen years ago)
yeah, and I think at this point peter gabriel is less embarrassing for aging boomers than phil collins, what with So and all
― da croupier, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 21:59 (sixteen years ago)
i wouldn't be surprised if they ignore these dudes entirely, but just inducting genesis as a catch-all seems more likely than giving love to No Jacket Required at the expense of "Supper's Ready."
― da croupier, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 22:01 (sixteen years ago)
"genesis would be first proggers to get in, right?"
Pink Floyd's in.
― My name is Kenny, Wednesday, 23 September 2009 23:21 (sixteen years ago)
The inductees: ABBA, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, the Hollies and the Stooges.
I can't really argue with those choices, they're quite easily the best of the bunch (with the possible exception of Donna Summer).
N.B. I'm ignoring the ongoing snubbing of Darlene Love -- for this, the RnR HOF is in a distinct category of suck, and I've basically learned to live with that.

Monday, March 15, 2010. The Waldorf Astoria Hotel. NYC. ABBA. Iggy & The Stooges. Jamming onstage. Together. It's gonna happen. Oh yes.
― Fastnbulbous, Wednesday, 16 December 2009 16:35 (sixteen years ago)
There are many rivers to cross before that happens.
― Euler, Wednesday, 16 December 2009 16:45 (sixteen years ago)
Jimmy Cliff can play too. They can all join in with Genesis on "Supper's Ready." Or "Search & Destroy"! Or "Mama Mia"?
