Coming out of the Italo Disco RFI thread, I wonder whether Kano gets their due. These guys were my introduction to Italo, having heard them a ways back on XM Radio's disco channel. Three albums, at least two of which are great, and a boatload of terrific singles. From the debut, "I'm Ready" is an obvious classic. But just about all of that record is amazing. On New York Cake, they go all Chic, replacing (most of?) the vocoder and punky whiny vox with a soul singer, who's pretty good. I'm less hot on "Queen of Witches" than some on ILM are--I prefer its b-side, "China Star"--but it's still pretty good. You could argue that synthed-out instrumentals like "Ikeya Seki" and "Cosmic Voyager" were their specialty.

Plus, Kano were actually Italian and actually disco. Which, in a genre that's increasingly catch-all, has to count for something.

Now Baby Now is probably my favorite along with Dance School but there's no shortage of good tracks to choose from.

I do think they get their due, I'm Ready has kind of been sampled to death plus Another Life was done for Discopolis and Now Baby Now is the basis for Felix's Glitz Rock. The less said about that Kavinsky track "sampling" Ikeya Seki the better.

just bought this

with i'm ready on it. not a bad value comp (despite having lots of 'gots' in it), may get the others in the series.

Listening to the title track from Another Life right now -- great song and the main synth riff is a monster.
