magic crayon - where do they fit in the indie pop scheme of things?

i needed to mention magic crayon, because magic crayon sounds like 99% of indie pop, except they're from brazil and they use these bossa nova chords, so they're like indiepop getz/gilberto! i recommend you listen to 'start' and 'love doesn't happen that way'.

i don't listen to very much indiepop, so i might be (in fact i'm convinced that i am) unwittingly getting all happy about a very typical band. if this is so, tell me where more stuff like this can be found!

i've heard practically nothing...but they reminded me of a more- grounded, and less creative os mutantes.

yes, that is a fair description. hmm... maybe i'll just go and download some more mutantes, although they are slightly scarier and not as pretty pretty as magic crayon. i might be in a twee mood.

Have you heard much Siesta Records stuff? ...a 50/50 mix of the two

Siesta and Elefant bands are really good. I would recommend the Happy Balloon, La Casa Azul and the Vacaciones.

postal blue is a wonderful brazillian indie pop band as well, don't know if they use bossa nova chords but they recommend all sorts of bossa nova records on their website. they're the new orchids.

six months pass...
Hi, we're here.
Check this out, http://www.indiepages.com/magiccrayon or http://www.tramavirtual.com.br/gvirtual/artista/Magic_Crayon
to download our song "Start".
Oh yeah, we're not like Mutantes and even wanted to.
But we're cool (or just we think to).
Pop'n'peace.
