v, you're asking for trouble (or a long list of recs provided by 'Deano' Martian, which is the same thing).

Low. Everybody, by the way, should rush out and pick up Deerhoof's "Reveille".

What dleone said. That Vooredoms CD is the only new record I want. So I heard it's coming out in Japan this summer. Does anyone know any more information about it than that? Like when it's actually coming out?

I don't think it has been a dull year; and I don't know much about what we are expecting, but I know there is a new Underworld coming, and I was uneasy about it, but having heard and loved one track as much as all their other stuff, I can't see that there can be anything coming that I'll anticipate more eagerly (we've already had the new Shadow and Eminem ones, after all) - unless, are we expecting a new Massive Attack? They're the only act I might be even more keen about.

Boa Morte - new, reputedly excellent Irish slo-core group with album just out. Still have to get Idlewild's new one, as well. Fonda 500 also. It HAS been a crap year, hasn't it? Best record so far = Beachwood Sparks - "Make the Robot Cowboys Cry".

I'd also like to second those anticipatory cries for albums by Beck and Low. I heard a few new Low songs when I saw them play Christ Church Cathedral a few months back, and they sound as gorgeous as ever (maybe more so).

Regarding Low - I remember hearing the soundclips of a few new songs off of their label's site, and it sounds very promising - slightly more upbeat perhaps?

Also looking forward to Beck's new album. The songs are being streamed through his site, a different song every Tuesday (but only one song at a time) up until the release date - and the first two songs are very, very good. The flash intro to the site tends to screw up my borwser, so you may want to go straight to www.beck.com/news.

Besides that, Portishead, Massive Attack, Pearl Jam (so sue me) and Spoon. And if the Sigur Ros record makes it this year, then that too.

Saint Etienne: _Finisterre_
Future Bible Heroes: _Eternal Youth_
Neko Case: _Blacklisted_
And, the Mint Records news page says that the new New Pornographers album may be ready later this year or in early '03.

No such thing as a crap year really, at least crap is a pretty strong word.

I don't know, there's a consistent flow of singles that I love. I think Harry Choo Choo Romero might be making an album later in the year which would be cool, all his singles that I've heard have been wicked. Jon Carter is also bringing out an album of his own stuff. Underworld I guess aswell.
