i'm going to Iceland tomorrow with a friend and was wondering if there were any clubs/venues/blah we should check out, or even just interesting stuff we could do (museums, galleries, etc). also a short geographical approximation would be nice.

In Reykjavík, THE dance club at the moment is Nasa, situated at Austurvöllur near the Parliament building. Other places include Gaukurinn (they often have live music), Cafe Victor, Kaupfélagið, can't remember more at the moment. Most of the clubs and cafés are situated in a small area in downtown Reykjavík, and part of the fun is to wander between them. If you have to visit only one museum while you are there, make it Árbæjarsafn. It's built up like a tiny village, with an old-fashioned shop and café, a tiny turf church, and different exhibitions in different houses. Kjarvalsstaðir and Listasafn Reykjavíkur are two art museums/galleries that are worth visiting.

When I was there, on a Monday-Wednesday, we found a cool little bar called 'Cirkus' open on a Tuesday night. Kind of an indie bar, they were playing the Smiths, Pulp, etc. on the stereo. Small place, but nice and cozy. Right off the main shopping street, next to a good record store I can't remember the name of. That's a possible bet for a weeknight destination, if you'd just like to relax and have a drink.

I'm not sure you could read the event listings, but if Kitchen Motors is hosting anything, check it out. They're an arts collective that sponsors different kinds of concerts and musical collaborations.
