Burma is three albums in, Dinosaur Jr. is two in. Every single one of them is good (even great at times). How do you pick a winner?

I'm casting my vote for Dinosaur Jr. I guess. Beyond should probably win some kind of award as far as reunion albums go, especially considering the animosity between Lou and J. for years and how nobody anywhere thought they'd ever get back together again.

Picked Burma cause it seemed the most unlikely.

Burma, 'cause they started so far ahead of the curve, the kids are just now catching up.

The third Burma 2.0 album has lead me to take them for granted, but to be fair I should wait to hear another Dinosaur installment.

^ I'm still hoping Clint will find the time to one day release another Consonant album (like the first one, not the second one).

Dinosaur Jr's Beyond is a great record but more than that, their live shows have been amazing. The ones they've done over here with Kevin Shields doing sound have been, to these ears at least, better than the few shows I saw of them in the 80s. Sonically at least. He does now resemble a stoic but slightly befuddled pension eligible Native American dude in leisure wear. Deceptive appearances though...

the thing about the new Dinosaur Jr. albums for me is good as they are, they aren't actually any better than some of the albums J did w/o Lou and Murph (as Dinosaur and as J Mascis & The Fog). it's great that they got back together and patched things up, but in a way it's a shame J needed to do that for people to notice how good he still is.

Come on, guys - this is Burma, no contest. I've seen them twice since their reunion and they slayed both times. In contrast, DJ were good but mostly blah the twice I've seen them; J Mascis + The Fog were better.

I'd argue the opposite; Dino Jr have completely slayed the 2-3 times I've caught them in recent years, whereas I saw Burma once a few years back and it seemed like they were on autopilot. But maybe it's just 'cause I prefer Dino's music?

Lou joined up w/ dino again in what, 2005? Last time I saw 'em in october, I enjoyed Lou's solo set more than djr and that made me feel weird. Saw Burma in April and it was the best I've ever seen 'em, and here they are coming back through Chi-town AGAIN! Burma owns it on stage - as much I enjoy djr - vote goes to Burma.

To me at least it felt like Dino Jr were only defunct for a few years, though wikipedia says it was 8. Still nothing to Mission of Burma's 19 (wikipedia again, sorry if these are wrong). MoB for me.

Both were excellent on reunion tours. Both have made great albums during reunion. I voted both.
