Whatever happened to the Romo scene?

I remember reading British music mags in the mid 60s about this new "Romo" scene that was supposed to revive the new romantic era.

Obviously, little did happen, at least not until years later, as people obviously weren't ready for the return of the 80s by 1996. I was able to find one video by Plastic Fantastic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnTdNVDtTn8&p=64BB02A4ED014BF6&playnext=1&index=55 dunno if it's their only one. What strikes me here is that, musically, they sound more like postpunk revivalists, more influenced by Killing Joke or Magazine than by Duran Duran or Spandau Ballet. And out of today's 80s influenced acts they have more in common with Franz Ferdinand or Bloc Party than with La Roux. Again, in terms of music, not in terms of image.

So, does anyone know more about what happened to the scene? Did any of these guys actually become something? Did the Romo bands ever release any more singles than this one single by Plastic Fantastic? Or did they just appear 5-10 years too late/early?
