Barkmarket's "Vegas Throat"

Should I get it or not? Someone reminded me of them and the fact that I saw this in Coconuts for $14. Is it an ep? Is it worth that much? I don't remember hearing anything about that particular album.

Geez... nobody answered this? Didn't anybody ever see the Pixies in concert with these guys opening? I remember finding Barkmarket more fun to watch than the Pixies (and I love me some Pixies).

"Vegas Throat" isn't great, perhaps not $14 great, but it has some songs you may want to check out. The most tuneful are probably "Grinder," "Pitbull," and "Pencil." Plus you can't beat an album cover culled from the pages of the Color Atlas of Oral Pathology!!

Vegas throat is not a "great" record I would agree....

Certainly not 14 bucks great as Blake stated. Never really figured out why these guys did not take off, Gimmick is a MASTERPIECE and yet relatively unknown to a great portion of the "masses". Sorry these guys didn't "make it", but in someways I am happy that I can enjoy something "special" that a VERY few people know about, therefore making it in itself GREAT! BUY the DAMN RECORD will ya?
Regards.

Bigger fan of L.RON, me.

Yes -- I finally located L.Ron about a month ago and i agree that it's their best -- even though both Vegas Throat and Gimmick have their merits. I saw them in concert at the same time that The Stand was first showing on ABC, in fact, the venue (Reptile House) had the bar TV tuned to it. Anyways, the bass player for Barkmarket, John Nowlin, looked exactly like the actor who played Trashman on the mini-series. --He never blew anything up; but their performance was amazing; even for the slim handful of people (less than 20) that turned out for the show. ¥

barkmarket. the best. buy gimmick and search the tiniest basement record stores in brooklyn for "easy listening" vinyl only release... these guys kick my ass and david sardy is a lyrical genius. nobody writes lyrics like this guy. plus now he's a big time producer (dandy warhols, supergrass, marilyn manson, system of a down...)

Great live band, and as Blake above, saw them supporting Pixies in '90, and got Easy Listening (Sonny is still one of my all-time fave tracks) on the basis of that show, but heard nothing more about them and have only recently started tracking down their back catalogue, which I was largely unaware of
