do you prefer clubs where they focus on one genre - its prog house night at foundation or electic - its a mishmash of indie, big beat and hiphop (99% britpop + baggy,a bit ov cypress hill, house of pain + fatboy slim)

can you lose yourself at eclectic clubs - do the drugs work as well ?

Depends how fucked up you are really...;)....theres a club I go to in Limerick called Soul Clinic and its pretty eclectic...its mostly hip- hop but when it strays too far off the path (like playing Croswstown Traffic) its hard to take..So its hard for me to say really.

Does Robin C go raving at the "progressive" Dorset dance nite Slinky Slinky @ The Opera House Bournemouth on Fridays ?

Dress code Slinky Club wear Street wear and trainers cool No lager boys

PS Back to football Robin, lucky win tonight!, with Palace fired up without wacky Smith - Its all to play for on Sunday ! link

what the hell?

Ethan,

Robin lives in Dorset, and does not drink lager, I am just interested if Robin gets down to Slinky? (Slinky is to Bournemouth/ Dorset to what Twilo is to New York, Ethan - "progressive house dance music on a Friday night")

then i added in the occasional football comment on ILM, I am sure you have never heard of (Palace) Crystal Palace or indeed care less where Bournemouth is.

Robin is a Crystal Palace fan, they unfortunately managed to win against my team Pompey (Portsmouth) in an English first division tonight - a vital football match.. that influences who gets relegated from the division on Sunday - with one match to go. At the moment Palace and Pompey are on the same points, seperated by only 1 goal difference.

Erm, no, Martian. I'm the sort who only stops writing to look at the scenery (for about five seconds) and then starts writing again.

Erm, sorry, Martian. Didn't see your last one. I tend to side with Reynolds on the subject of anything called progressive house or trance, so no wonder I don't go to Slinky (though I've heard of it).

I'm tentatively optimistic about Palace staying up now.

Robin Carmody, Wednesday, 2 May 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

yes, Robin but your frame of mind tonight is one of optimism, the opposite to mine.

And there is still Sunday, so you will not be going down to Slinky to take your mind off the pressure.

you never heard of it - serious ?

DJ Martian, Wednesday, 2 May 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

hey racer - i urge you and all of you next time you're in glasgow on a sunday nite... um... to check out OPTIMO which is not only the best club i've ever been at, but the most eclectic. i mean like a mix of white horse, nina simone, kraftwerk, strange new house&techno, sparks...

and, ah, the drugs do work. in lesser hands who knows, but my seratonin receptors are apparently in love w/ nina simone. weird cause i've heard she's a bitch.

No, I *have* heard of Slinky, even walked past the Opera House, I've just never been.

I don't like clubs...claustrophobic, smokey, no seats, dark, loud music, open too late, can't get home.
