Felt like devoting a thread to this excellent piece of musicianship. By far my favourite 10cc track, better than any of the singles.

I think you posted this same youtube on another thread somewhere along the line, Geir - and you made a 10CC fan outta me ... it is a pretty awesome track ...

OK, it has some good musical moments, bit it's pretty much the track that's skippable on "How dare you", which is a shame as it's the last track.
"Iceberg" is basically 10cc anticipating "American Psycho" decades ahead of time.
"Headroom" is, um, interesting.
"I'm mandy" and "Minestrone" you all know...
"Don't hang up" is basically comedy, and I guess it's lost it over time.
I played this a lot back then, seeing as I owned about five albums then...

LOVE the song, LOVE the official video too :http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2pth8_10cc-dont-hang-up_music
wonder why they made a video? was it a single in some 'territories'?

I guess it meant they didn't have to leave the studio if they didn't want to, for TV appearances, etc.

Totally disagree, "Headroom" and "Rock and Roll Lullaby" are shite and "Iceberg" makes me want to punch someone, preferably someone from 10cc. Why hasn't Geir been banned yet?

Oh, I looked the album up on Wiki, and I admit, R&RLul is the worst track on it.
"Headroom" and "Iceberg" are both, um, different...
Of course, there's "Art for Art's Sake" also, that's alright, what else? Oh, the instrumental opener...

When I were a lad, my cousin, who lived with my granny, had to come and stay at our house for a few months because the council was doing up their house and this is one of the albums he had (along with some Cockney Rebel and Frampton's Camel, can't remember what else). I only heard this album recently again for one of the first times since then, the track I remembered best was "I Wanna Rule the World", which was bound to make an impact on an impressionable mind. Overall this album isn't great though.

Yeah, that last verse sort of ruins it, but hey.

Reminds me a bit of that Alice Cooper song, "Generation Landslide", lyrically I mean

We are of a mind, yes.
Tbf, I have no need to play this, as thanks to my "perfect pitch" actually playing the album is not necessary..
Actually, thanks to my tune-recall, I know it too well to have to actually play it 'real-time'
One of those, alyway...

Oh, definitely a classic, though this and "I'm Mandy" really are about the only two decent tracks on this album ("Art for Art's Sake" I guess, but I'm not hugely keen on that though).
― Bloody Snail, Friday, 6 May 2011 00:51 (thirteen years ago) link
It is indeed a patchier album than the two that came before it. Although I, too, love this track and "I'm Mandy Fly Me" (and, well, gotta love "Art For Art's Sake" too), I still rank "The Original Soundtrack" and "Sheet Music" ahead of it, although I count all three albums as Classics with a bit C.
