oh! that wasnt the track, it was 'where were you', it sounds kind of cliched and generic. but it also sounds completely perfect. i have jerewat already too, thats nice as well

fezaffe, where are you in DE? i forgot

terry lennox. (gareth), Saturday, 22 October 2005 21:37 (twenty years ago)

i wish i knew what the mysterious ben ponton / robin storey fallout was all about. interviewers keep bringing it up but storey refuses to talk about it. its a shame really

Any Rapoon love in the last decade?

I'm currently revisiting Fallen Gods for the first time in a long time now that it is available on vinyl. Possibly sounding even better than it was back then and more discernible to my ears now figuring out what he contributed to those Zoviet France albums he was on.

Still hugely underrated.

the first track on this, “hollow flight” is especially incredible. I must listen to more Rapoon.

This thing absolutely kills me. I also need to listen to more Rapoon.

Some of the late 80's - early 90's ZF records were Robin Storey solo with other members just contributing artwork... A Flock of Rotations, Assault and Mirage, Shouting at the Ground, Just an Illusion and Shadow, Thief of the Sun, at the very least.

really? is this confirmed anywhere? so ben ponton only contributed artwork to these???

stirmonster, Thursday, 17 March 2022 00:25 (four years ago)

Info was on the now-dead unofficial ZF website which had detailed music/production/artwork credits for the whole discography.

Found it on archive.org:

Had also heard this at the time from the person who ran DOVe who released 'Shadow...' - arguments around credit and attribution were largely the cause of the fracturing of the group. In any case you can hear the pretty sharp change in sound from 1992 on.

atonar, Thursday, 17 March 2022 12:50 (four years ago)

thanks for the link - fascinating!

93's What Is Not True is one of my very favourite ZF releases but it's undeniable that it is a radical change of sound.

stirmonster, Thursday, 17 March 2022 13:13 (four years ago)

If you haven't heard them, the first couple of Reformed Faction albums are good too - Storey with Mark Spybey (and Andy Eardley on the first one).
