Or "text messaging: classic or dud?" for those not using Siemens technology. Pop culture youth here we go. Is two-way paging the same as text messaging? Include that too! What's the best text you've ever got? Mine was simple: "fuck me - penalty!" when my friend was watching the league cup final on Nationwide Football Extra at 1am and he instinctively knew I'd be the only other person stupid enough to be sitting up watching it.

I think it's classic - I think the exploitation of it in eg little books etc. is a bit dud, see also saucy texting advertised on billboards. It's nice that it's something cool we've got which isn't imported from the US, too.

I'm out of credit though on my pay-as-you-go so I can't reply to any of mine. So if you're reading this Sarah C:

hi - we found cam - Alex drank 1 w-dance sorry - yes i shd be going Fri. chrs Tom.

I wonder if this is the same thing as the Blackberry. I use a Blackberry for work, and the best message I've received so far has been from my editor who, when we were at Comdex supposedly looking for story ideas, sent me a message to tell me about a booth giving out free (and good) cappuccino. During that same trip I sent a message from a Denny's at 1 in the morning talking about how they pump oxygen into the casinos or something, and how you're likely to find abandoned alcohol on the streets when wandering around Las Vegas.
