Leaning towards "Jet City Woman" based on memory. I think Operation: Mindcrime is better though, although this one is more nostalgic.

I don't have a lot of patience for the guy at a party who noodles with a guitar in the corner (no offense everyone), but if the first song he plays is "Silent Lucidity," the story's different.

tbh a lot of those guitar guys will put down the car if you request "Silent Lucidity"
that's right, I just outed myself as most odious party attendant

and by car I mean guitar
got "end of Blondie's Rapture" noun confusion

The title track remains one of my favourite track off a very, very disappointing album. Coming on the heels of one of the greatest metal albums ever made (not to mention two exceptional albums before that), was Empire ever deflating.

Jet City Woman was ok, pretty much hate this band otherwise.

The title track still gets in my head sometimes. I've got problems with its message though: I don't think that insufficient spending on law enforcement is the cause of inner-city violence in the US.

Just downloaded the 20th anniversary edition. Looking forward to listening again.

I just listened to this right after Mindcrime and I think I actually like it better! This band's greatest strengths were the hooks and the vocal chops, as well as the production, and these are much stronger on Empire. Tate is pretty shrill and grating on Mindcrime, comparatively. The whole thing is really solid. I should have voted for "Another Rainy Night", the most bubblegum thing on here. And "Silent Lucidity" sounds amazing right now!

a. begrand on the money. 'rage for order' was always my favorite. but i do remember listening to 'the warning' nearly every day while delivering the afternoon detroit news.

I like "Silent Lucidity", a good representative of the genre "Comfortably Numb"

Given Michael Kamen arranged the strings on both, not surprising.

Voted Della Brown because I remember liking the sfx at the beginning

I haven't listened to this album in probably close to 20 years, but playing it on Spotify now and, even with Geoff's "opera rocker" singing, it's held up well.

I used to listen to this with the tv muted while I played Nintendo. Haven't heard the album or played Nintendo since, but those things will always be linked in my mind. Voting "Jet City Woman" based on memory
