Neptunes + big drums = why has Michael Jackson not kidnapped these people yet?

dleone (dleone), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 14:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Do you ever get the feeling that the Neptunes are in the place where Max Martin tried to be, got close to but never completely had, ie, "Every singer everywhere is mine to use!" Very much a compliment, I assure you...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 14:53 (twenty-three years ago)

oh I heard this one, Timberlake is dud. Fotane, Bass and that other main singing chap, deserve more success than him.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 14:57 (twenty-three years ago)

utter classic as i think i stated on the 'thong song' v 'hot in herre' thread but nobody took the bait. but yeah, classic.

michael wells (michael w.), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Yay! Britney & Justin back on top of New Answers. I can go home now.

zebedee, Wednesday, 25 September 2002 15:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Bleh...he sounds like he's doing a bad vocal imitation of donell jones.

robert lashley (brotherman), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 15:20 (twenty-three years ago)

the last 30 secs or so are classic (esp the bit where he goes "drums" and then drums kick in), but the rest isn't quite as good as girlfriend or some of the stuff on the nerd album.

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 15:53 (twenty-three years ago)

but where the fuck is Jordan Knight?

blueski, Wednesday, 25 September 2002 16:02 (twenty-three years ago)

it can't touch nick carter's single.

dk, Wednesday, 25 September 2002 16:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Is this the tune Timberlake performed at the VMA's? If so, it's a really good tune. I thought it was a classic moment with him jumping off the giant boombox. Actually the VMA's this year were the best ever. People bouncing on giant pogo sticks during P. Diddy and Busta's bit. Even The hives were great! Dont they all look like surly butchers?

Michael Bourke, Wednesday, 25 September 2002 16:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Points for making me do a double take on that falsetto. Also good to see the Neptunes incorporating their chords better unlike in Britney's "Boys".

Honda, Wednesday, 25 September 2002 19:20 (twenty-three years ago)

crap, Crap, CRAP!

Death cannot come swiftly enough to him.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 19:30 (twenty-three years ago)

alex you have easily overtaken pinefox in the self-parody stakes

robin carmody (robin carmody), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 20:07 (twenty-three years ago)

it's really really great, although i'm still trying to figure out why it keeps meshing with 'marquee moon' in my head.

maura (maura), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 20:24 (twenty-three years ago)

What DK said.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 20:30 (twenty-three years ago)

have to disagree. saw nick carter on 'the saturday show' and that new song is lame.

michael wells (michael w.), Thursday, 26 September 2002 08:40 (twenty-three years ago)

this song is great. timberlake has a penchant for breakdowns, sexy taunting and pop-locking. it's like he's making music just for me

boxcubed (boxcubed), Monday, 30 September 2002 08:15 (twenty-three years ago)

also, aren't the clipse great? they remind me of murder mase!

boxcubed (boxcubed), Monday, 30 September 2002 08:16 (twenty-three years ago)

That bit at the end, yes "drums" and then it goes all bleepy, fucking great, I have to say I've always thought Timberlake was a bit of a knob but I've had to change my mind.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 30 September 2002 08:40 (twenty-three years ago)

It's all about "drums." CLASSIC CLASSIC CLASSIC.

Jody Beth Rosen, Monday, 30 September 2002 09:26 (twenty-three years ago)

this record is really good. the guitars give it almost a spanish flavor. and there is no bass at all. just drums, guitar, and widdly noises! almost like "when doves cry" haha.
as much as I like pop, I can't seem to deal with boybands (does the thought of 5 grown me singing for/to/about one teeneage girl seem a little off to you?), so this record is especially good for me.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 15:03 (twenty-three years ago)

The Reverend, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 17:33 (eighteen years ago)

I don't even remember that Nick Carter single, even though I definitely remember hearing it, all I remember was being unimpressed. I think that says everything.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

this is still the best thing timba's done.

and i loved fs/ls.

deej, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 17:38 (eighteen years ago)

four years pass...

“Pharrell was doing songs for Michael [Jackson], and then Michael was turning them down left and right,” says Timberlake. “So Pharrell got to that point where he was doing verses and a chorus, but he wasn’t going to write the whole song, because he had really been putting his heart into this work. And then there I was.”

is it old news that some of timberlake's early singles were intended at least in part for michael? i had no idea. kinda interesting to me.

dirty deathdrone boys (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 26 June 2011 16:18 (fourteen years ago)

I guess everything on Justified.

billstevejim, Sunday, 26 June 2011 22:06 (fourteen years ago)

ugh this article

But Justin has not only borrowed Jacko's hat, he's tried on his sister Janet. He got busy with the 36-year-old at Missy Elliot's birthday party. Well, you'd have to create your own entertainment if you'd been waiting for the hostess to share out the birthday cake.

But the surest sign that Justin has gone adult are the names of his new friends. Gone are the Howies and Kevins of his BSB days - Justin now goes clubbing with, ahem, the Patty Cake Man and Pusha T Clipse, the Neptunes' proteges who are also on Justin's Justified album.

Bro-Die-O-Dee! (some dude), Sunday, 26 June 2011 23:58 (fourteen years ago)

yeah it's been pretty widely known for a while

I read about it before the songs got released so yeah, a while

how is this even a question

r|t|c, Monday, 14 January 2013 20:16 (thirteen years ago)

tbh the embarrassment factor for me personally would be so high just doing the timberlake parts that i can't even fathom doing the clipse parts

some dude, Monday, 14 January 2013 20:18 (thirteen years ago)

take a few shots let it burn in your chest imo

r|t|c, Monday, 14 January 2013 20:19 (thirteen years ago)

i mean you're probably right in the sense that on my deathbed all the girls i ever knew will form a line and each in turn whisper into my ear "you know when you did like i love you... that was horrible" but whatever tbh
