Randomness - Shaggs vs. Electric Eels

For some reason I can physically no longer stand to listen to any CD where I can predict what the next 10 seconds is going to sound like. (Unless I know it's going to sound exactly the same for the next ten minutes. I vacillate almost exclusively between the 2 CDs mentioned and a Tresor compilation lately) I would actually have more fun attempting to transcribe 'Philosophy of the World' into guitar tab than listen to most things that I could probably transcribe from memory. I think the first time I seriously started to question the formerly-infallible-to-me Chuck Eddy was when he ripped on Halo of Flies (whom I've never heard btw) saying "knowing what they're going to do next is pretty important to me", and I had one of those visceral reactions. IE "Well I feel the exact opposite, I'm going to be pretty sceptical of everything you write from now on, you just lost me". So why do I need everything (sonically) to occur randomly all the time? Is it fear of commitment to a pattern? Or am I just entering the slow-decline phase of life still pathetically choking with infantile rage because nobody seems unduly bothered or even aware of the fact that I'm smarter than them even though I dropped out of college?

well, I suppose INXS seems exciting because Michael Hutchence's final career move was unpredictable.
