Jess didn't you think that Bobby James song was a little bit lame, particularly the rhymes? Stay off those drugs Bobby!

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 19:08 (twenty-three years ago)

that's why i like it! it's like the TNBC version of innervisions.

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 19:11 (twenty-three years ago)

the mystikal track is called "danger" - maybe my favorite

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 25 September 2002 19:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Anyone heard the version of Southern Hospitality with Ms Dy-na-mi-teee & Maxwell D . As Westwood would say "SHOW SOME RESPECT (boom)".

Check Kelis' 'Suspended' for the ill quiet storm.

Adrian Ferra, Wednesday, 25 September 2002 19:22 (twenty-three years ago)

call me controversial but "bobby james" is my favourite thing NERD have done. fave neptunes are "i just wanna love you", "i'm a slave 4 u" and "grindin"

michael wells (michael w.), Thursday, 26 September 2002 07:19 (twenty-three years ago)

their Daft Punk remix was pretty cool too - certainly different

Usher's 'U Dont Have To Call' is sweet...tho too like the Kelis stuff perhaps

blueski, Thursday, 26 September 2002 09:38 (twenty-three years ago)

i'll second "u don't have to call". love it.

michael wells (michael w.), Thursday, 26 September 2002 09:43 (twenty-three years ago)

their air remix is funny. BITCHES! BITCHES!

boxcubed (boxcubed), Thursday, 26 September 2002 18:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Janet Jackson - Who
Kelis - Popular Thug
Philly's Most Wanted - Cross The Border (criminally underrated!)
Latrelle - You Don't Even Know

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 27 September 2002 00:28 (twenty-three years ago)

CROSS THE BORDER OWNS!! I seem to be the only person who really likes "Girlfriend"

A.V. Alexandre (Keiko), Friday, 27 September 2002 00:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Damn! I haven't heard a single song that's been mentioned so far!

Sean (Sean), Friday, 27 September 2002 00:41 (twenty-three years ago)

How about these, Sean?

Color me as one fellow that wants NOTHING to do w/ that Perry Farrell track.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 27 September 2002 03:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Is that Kelis cover of Phil Collins produced by The Neptunes available anywhere other than on the Collins 'tribute' LP? That (and maybe ODB's version of "Sussudio") is the only track I wanna hear from that particular project.

Jeff W (Jeff W), Friday, 27 September 2002 09:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Oldish but Nore's "Superthug" still fucking rules.

Chris Houghton, Friday, 27 September 2002 11:26 (twenty-three years ago)

was the kelis one a bonus track on her last album? or was it just brandy who did that?

don't bother with "sussudio", it's hugely disappointing; why the odb doesn't sing the chorus i'll never know.

OMFG!! Snoop's "Signs" with j/t is so hot. A total neps breakthrough where all their soul-funk experimentation clicks back with the click click.. clickclick of got yr. $. this track makes me so happy.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Thursday, 24 March 2005 05:32 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah "Signs" is wonderful, and I say that as someone who jumped off the Neptunes wagon circa Blueprint 2

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 24 March 2005 05:50 (twenty-one years ago)

mad skillz - va banger

jake b. (cerybut), Thursday, 24 March 2005 05:56 (twenty-one years ago)

wow thanks for letting em know about this, this tune is awesome!!!!!

i dont know anything about the neptunes, but i can see what sterlings saying, theres something consumate about this, the swing and loping groove (ive yet to hear producers* that can do it so effortlessly and so funky...ly) that have marked ouf frontin and beautiful etc seems to have come to a head here.
wicked

*remember, i havent heard any hiphop ever

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

also fresh & searchworthy: Mariah Carey feat. Nelly & Pharrell - "Tonight" ... not as good as "Signs", not breaking any new ground, but it's got a nice disco-funk groove goin' on.

Mind Taker, Thursday, 24 March 2005 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

So if "Signs" is that good (I haven't heard it) then that makes three strong Neptunes tracks on R&G - I'm thinking that one might be worth picking up.

o. nate (onate), Thursday, 24 March 2005 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Kelefa gave it a good review.

deej., Thursday, 24 March 2005 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

it's like "Beautiful" done right. some of the only nu-Neps acoustic drums style I really like is on Justified, so the involvement of Justin is a big plus.

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 24 March 2005 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I like that the horn arrangement is more full and trad-sounding than usual for them, I wonder if Chad did it or if they brought in session players.

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 24 March 2005 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

It samples "Early in the Morning" by the Gap Band (the hit from Gap Band IV).

JoB (JoB), Friday, 25 March 2005 00:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I wanna hear this bad. I thought "Let's Get Blown" was a real return to form for the Neps.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 25 March 2005 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Babyface - "There She Goes" (love the acordian in this one)
Kelis - "Get Along With You"
Kenna - "I'm Gone" (I think Chad is the only one to work on this one)
Sade - "By Your Side" (remix)

modernaire, Friday, 25 March 2005 00:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Let's Get Blown is probably my least favorite of the three snoop singles...oh but the "Drop It Like It's Hot" remix is fucking nasssty in a good way, that might be my favorite.
