What;s the best returned-to song?

Has anybody really detested a song that was on the radio non-stop for a while, and they hated it, and then when they heard it a few years later, it sounded really good?

This has happened to me twice recently - I heard Deeply Dippy in th car the other day, and it's a FANTASTIC song! I hated it at the time - I heard it way too much. The same goes for The Hamster Song - detested it at the time, now it sounds like the best pop record EVER!

Anyone think so?

Hearing "Building A Bridge To Your Heart" by Wax on TOTP2 last night, I wondered why I hadn't liked it more at the time. (I didn't hate it as such, I just dismissed it / paid it no heed. But this was 1987 - there was plenty else to get enthused about at the time)

Doobie Brothers - "What a Fool Believes"
thought it OK at first, then hated it after a million airings
then heard it again in 1982 and loved it

same goes for Michael McDonald vocals in general
thought "Sweet Freedom" cheesy at first
later came to love it
but all along it had a secret weapon anyway - writer: Rod Temperton

I don't often trust my first impressions nowadays
cos some of my fave artists/bands/tunes are ones I didn't rate at first

I thought 'Deeply Dippy' was terrific first time round, no joke. Madonna's 'Like a Prayer' was a disappointment to me originally, though. Now it turns me on.
