Bwahahahahaha. oh jesus.

Several labels and music publishers may target Bertelsmann in an effort to recoup losses from online music piracy, saying the German media conglomerate helped Napster users infringe song copyrights. According to the Los Angeles Times, a lawsuit by the major labels against Bertelsmann could be in the vicinity of $1 billion.

Probably just an excuse to knock down another of the major labels so there's less competition. Then again, Bertelsmann is pretty huge...maybe they could actually cough up a billion $$ and stay alive?

"However, for Bertelsmann to be liable, it must be proven that the company controlled the activity of Napster users and that Bertelsmann benefited financially from the illegal service."

Good luck on that one, fellas.

They can probably settle out of court for a good sum.
