Anyone heard the new Dannii Minogue release? Just caught about 30 seconds of it and it sounds like an absolute belter. Don't know name of tune etc, anyone got any info?

it's called 'Put the Needle On It' and it's utterly wack if you make the obvious comparison to Kylie, but not bad if you compare it to bird-wot-simon cowell-wanted-to-marry-who-sounds-alot-like-kylie. video involves her writhing on top of a large turnatable a la kyles.

I'd say it's pretty crap on the whole (but I haven't really got alot of tolerance for pop music!) but it has this great high pitched squelchy sort of melody running through it and toward the end there are these very Aphex Twin-ish sort of IDM snare roll things...

Does anyone remember that awful Danni single from a couple of years ago, the clip of which featured here Really Obviously Not Playing Guitar, but just sort of making poses with it?

its actually not too bad - better than most of the pop/dance that gets rated on here...its got a nice seedy streak running thru reminiscent of mid 90s american hoose music

I'm reviving this for the simple reason that what I have to say probably doesn't warrant its own thredd, but is perhaps worth saying.

Dannii Minogue: not enough ILM love!

"I Begin To Wonder" is a fucking brilliant song, and perhaps the only actual example of (whatever the dickens) Electroclash (is) being successfully assimilated into Proper Pop Culture, like. It crunches, it grinds, it makes you swish your shoulders about like a robot with epaulettes and strike poses like you're Marcel Marceau at a fashion shoot...and the fact that there's a bootleg blennnding it in with "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)" makes it even more poifect.

Is the rest of the album this good? Even if it isn't...what a tune. Really, what. A. Tune.

Everyone ever should be talking about how great this Dannii Minogue album is.

I've never really gotten behind the Poundstretcher Minogue's work, with the notable exception of this song, which is some kind of Olympian classic imo
