OK technically this isn't a Fancy-a-Pint since I myself won't be having pints, I'll just be pacing around making myself nervous. Anyhow I'm playing a show at the ICA in London on October the 10th & I hope some of you London ILMers will come out! I'm (The Mountain Goats: I'm bringing a bassist) on second-to-last, the other acts are Sybarite, Murcof & the New Tellers who ought to be the Gnutellas but whatevah - do come if you can, meeting ILM people in real life ROOLZ

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 09:40 (twenty-three years ago)

(Except my laptop is kind of broken bah chiz)

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 09:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Andrew L -

I sing/write songs in the Mountain Goats. We're on 4AD. It's acoustic-guitar stuff but isn't loose/confessional like folk music.

Julio -

I think I go on at nine or ten but I'm not sure. Not being from England I don't really know where the ICA is - its website anyhow is here: http://www.ica.org.uk/

Mark S I'll be in touch.

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah the location is good. if i don't have too much on the day i should be there.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 17:58 (twenty-three years ago)

If you're in London for any longer than that evening, why not call a proper FAP? I can't make the next day, Thursday the 11th, but should otherwise mostly be around.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 19:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Also, we met one Jon recently, and he was great, so we're sort of on a roll.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 19:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Thursday is the 10th - Friday is the eleventh!

I may manage to work out a proper FAP at that — I have to coordinate the various people on whom I need to call during my extremely brief time in London. Watch this space!

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 20:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Quite right, and sorry: I cannot do the Friday.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 21:57 (twenty-three years ago)

well Martin, flattery will get you everywhere (or, at least, it's my round)... not currently in London any of those days but that changes fast and I will watch this space.

jon (jon), Wednesday, 2 October 2002 10:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Thank you for the info John D.

The ICA is a nice venue, not that big but not a shitehole, and it's right in the heart of central London.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Wednesday, 2 October 2002 10:17 (twenty-three years ago)

so I did go and see the mountain goats yesterday and it was good day out of the lab for me. I didn't get to say hi though (I could have shouted out but didn't).

It came after this indie that I really annoyed me after a while. the second was a laptop person that played some acoustic guitar in this folk manner. that was better.

''I sing/write songs in the Mountain Goats. We're on 4AD. It's acoustic-guitar stuff but isn't loose/confessional like folk music.''

John- was the song abt that danish bloke true or did you make it up?

also anyone that puts a song with a line ''100 cubic centimeters'' definetely isn't confessional type stuff.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 11 October 2002 06:21 (twenty-three years ago)

did anyone else go?
