That song was so outrageous I couldn't help but like it, starting from the title on. "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark" lol. Stump, you cheeky bastard.

They commemorated the occasion at the site of the original Comiskey Park, the location of Disco Demolition Night in 1979, as they were burning albums."

Cautiously optimistic for the album - played the ever-loving crap out of the last three, still spin them on occasion, haven't liked Patrick Stump's solo stuff as much as I've wanted to.

they played tons of stuff from cork tree and prior... dipped into the last two albums only intermittently and played only the single off the new album. was a very conscious 'back to basics'/real heads know the deal kinda thing i guess, but they sounded incredible. very fun show, would attend secret fall out boy show at 375 cap venue again.

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 05:27 (five years ago) Permalink

they did play all the singles tho, so that was cool. they actually played a fair amount of stuff from 'infinity on high' too

i didn't get a chance to read the news stories today so this may be old news but pete said that patrick called him like 18 months ago to write songs but what they came up with didn't "feel right" or whatever. then patrick called him again a few months ago and they got back at it and i guess that's where this album is coming from.

Yeah this is very enjoyable record. Nothing quite as straightforwardly catchy as some of their other more recent stuff, but I think it'll hold up better.

Man this is reaaaaally good! Excitingly so

Like it’s not Folie ~amazing~ but there’s really no skippable tracks on this for me so far. American Psycho was v patchy & took me a while to warm up, so it’s good to be hooked in from the get go again. Maybe closer to Saves Rock N Roll?
anyway i’ve gone through this twice already today, no signs of stopping

Love Patrick’s singing on Heaven’s Gate

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 19 January 2018 22:07 (nine months ago) Permalink

why is it rearranged on streaming services? i noticed a similar thing happened with 21 savage's album last year, but then it seemed like it was because of which songs were getting the most plays right off the bat to inflate full-album playthroughs. is this going to start becoming a thing?

austinb, Saturday, 20 January 2018 02:30 (nine months ago) Permalink

hmm, never mind, i found this tweet from pete.

No no. It’s a long story why it’s going to be wrong in iTunes for a few weeks- it’s just how their system ingested the songs we already put out.

I wish I liked it as much. I do think it's better than AB/AP but I kinda long for the (relatively) spacious sound of SRAR. and I still hate "Champion" and "Hold Me Tight Or Don't" a lot. and "Wilson" sounds a bit like "YOLO" to me lol

"Heaven's Gate" and "Church" make a v nice pairing and are definitely right up there with their best material

Gave into this despite actively disliking all the pre-release songs. I don't want to smell that shit, Patrick.
