Britney spears doing Totally Wired by the Fall

As mentioned elsewhere, Shania Twain doing Momus' "The Penis Song".

We've done this one before, but a new one for me: Momus in '93 mode doing "I Know It's Over" by the Smiths.

I think a Radiohead (or Poptones or Killing Joke or ABBA or Desiny's Child) tribute CD by assorted posters on ILM would cover all assorted meanings of "die" here.

Die or dire?

Nicole, Friday, 11 May 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Are you referring to the John Donne, 'petit mort' sense of 'die', Tom? I hope not.

Nick, Friday, 11 May 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

haha

I'd love to hear Aretha Franklin in her prime sing one of Leonard Cohen's most beautiful songs. I'd be weeping buckets.

Britney Spears doing "Revol", because she needs to sound more like a "crazy bum", in the words of Otie.

Ally, Friday, 11 May 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Saint Etienne doing Radiohead's "No Surprises" -- something they *promised* they said they'd do when I saw them in concert last time. :-)

I quite like the idea of Britney Spears covering Death Valley 69.....

I'd like to hear Lloyd Cole singing 'If You Don't Cry'. In fact, I seem to recall hearing that Lloyd was originally going to sing that track anyway. So it would hardly even be a cover. But I sure would like to hear it.

It is really striking - and insightful, I think - that you guys say that. Cos whenever I hear that song I reflect on who the line 'Oh, mother dear, we're not the fortunate ones' reminds me of.

Ronan Keating doing "pretty vacant"...would be apt.

james e l, Monday, 14 May 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

In a perfect world Royal Trux would do a cover of 'I Feel Love'.

Omar, Tuesday, 15 May 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

nobody need bother dying, the replacements did cover "like a rolling stone" and it appears on their "all for nothing, nothing for all" complilation.

ryan, Tuesday, 15 May 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

two weeks pass...
I wouldn't die to hear this...but I just heard Nikka Costa for the first time the other day, and I think it would be cool if she could bring back Betty Davis' F.U.N.K. for the younger set.
