jane doe landslide and i couldn't disagree with it

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 8 November 2013 14:06 (ten years ago) link

Inclined towards You Fail Me myself, though No Heroes represents the only even vague quality dip on the last five.

Simon H., Friday, 8 November 2013 14:08 (ten years ago) link

this is so much tougher than i thought it would be. was dead set on Jane Doe when i clicked it open, but i can make a case for any of those last five for sure.

ah yeah "sadness comes home" is the best thing in the world

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 8 November 2013 22:02 (ten years ago) link

jane doe works the best overall and hits the highest highs imo. sometimes the boring answer is the correct one!

anonanon, Friday, 8 November 2013 22:09 (ten years ago) link

*works the best overall as an album

anonanon, Friday, 8 November 2013 22:09 (ten years ago) link

"Sadness Comes Home" is fantastic, but I still think "You Fail Me," the song, is the best thing they've ever done.

Simon H., Saturday, 9 November 2013 09:47 (ten years ago) link

I've heard You Fail Me more, but Jane Doe just sounds that much more raw and unhinged.

Pingu Unchained (dog latin), Saturday, 9 November 2013 10:18 (ten years ago) link

Jane Doe followed by Axe to Fall, though really each one of their post-Jane Doe albums scratches a diff itch

i got all you love first, i still can't even play anything else, that one is so much the apex of music right now

j., Saturday, 9 November 2013 17:41 (ten years ago) link

I just want to see if Jane Doe gets more votes than all the albums that aren't Jane Doe

paolo, Saturday, 9 November 2013 22:42 (ten years ago) link

Voting Axe to Fall. Their most diverse album (tons of guest stars and some stylistic experiments that work really well), plus it opens with "Dark Horse," which is fucking amazing.

Cosigning that ^ Axe To Fall is an amazing album and I'm not a big fan of metalcore in general

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Sunday, 10 November 2013 00:28 (ten years ago) link

considering a vote f/ You Fail Me just f/ this:

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

The production got better after Jane Doe, but none of the albums really came together quite as well as that one. It was the first time they nailed it, and when they finally did, they were just mature enough to hit a home run.

Nice results. Although I voted for JD, I would have liked to see a few more votes for You Fail Me. My first Converge-album, and I still love it.

the converge songs on their splits with dropdead and napalm death from 2011/2012 are awesome. on the napalm death one they cover wolverine blues by entombed:

Wait, I guess it is credited as a Converge record, just featuring those other folks.
