Still one of the best live bands I've ever seen, and sorely underrated. I think they were ten years too early - now that bands that do half-assed versions of what they did are getting ten times as much attention, they could have wiped the floor with, say, Radio 4.

"Vs. The Light of the Sun" is one of the greatest albums of all time.
So Fred is really in the cast? like the new Horatio Sanz?

Yet another band Trenchmouth could wipe the floor with: Liars.

"Washington! Washington!" sure served as a good wake up this morning.

And now Armisen is going to be Seth Myers's house band leader...I pulled out my Trenchmouth records last night and I will still rep hard for them, "Vs the Light of the Sun" in particular. These guys were my favorite band for awhile in the mid-90s, so great live.
I saw their last Mpls show right before their break-up and Fred did this whole bit about how the audience was to blame for them breaking up and how we were awful. Which in hindsight I now realize was a bit he was doing but at the time when I was 19 I was totally clueless and it was so awkward & bizarre.
Great band.

There was a D.C. band called Trenchmouth that was together circa 79 to 80 http://www.ramblingshadows.com/html/Trenchmouth/Trenchmouth.htm

Yes! It was the early all-ager, I remember Damon Locks talking to someone in front of the stage, then just hopped up to play the set and the second they were done he got off stage again and continuted the conversation like nothing happened.
Someone yelled "whay are you breaking up?" (laughs, cheers)
Fred: "Because of you people. You are the reason we are breaking up." (dead silence)

That show is burned into my brain, it was a formative moment for me!
I saw them three or four times and they were always great, I remember a fantastic set opening for Jawbox in the mainroom as well.
