I'm in the C camp, but I can see where he might rub folks the wrong way. Assuming there's anyone out there who remembers him.

I remember "You'll Always Find Me In The Kitchen At Parties."

I bought his album in the used bin years ago, but cannot remember a thing about it other than the above.

Good for a laugh. I was immensely crestfallen to get an email after Tanya's very funny "Stop The Cavalry" piece reminding me that tanks were still called cavalry. "...Kitchen At Parties" is a drunken perennial.

I always think of "Stop The Cavalry" playing over the tannoy and drowning out Five Live reporters covering football matches around Christmas time. I have the same mental association with the Beach Boys' "Little Saint Nick". This is probably a bizarre thing to say.

Is this the "Louise" guy? I love that song for the deep voice bits.

Pretty sure the "Lousie" guy you're thinking of is in fact Phil Oakey from the Human League, no?

Jona Lewie=CCCCC just cos of "Stop The Cavalry", by a country mile the greatest Christmas song EVAH. Cue new thredd...

He probably went to get his hair cut.

three years pass...
Nah, that was the Q-Tips, with Paul Young on vox.

Jona Lewie is so classic.

I'll Get By in Pittsburgh = classic. Likewise 'Seaside Shuffle'.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 09:41 (twenty years ago)

Actually "Toast" was by The Street Band; which featured singer/guitarist Paul Young, guitarist John Gifford and bassist Mick Pearl, who went on to form The Q-Tips after The Street Band split up in '79.

I'm standing corrected. Nasty headrush with standing so quickly!

fifteen years pass...

it occurred to me how the open concept unified living space / kitchen space trend has changed how one might view the song youll always find me in the kitchen at parties

A couple days ago, googled the lyrics to 'The baby, she's on the Street'

Was convinced it was mostly Cajun french, but there's lots of phonetic English translated. Who knows?

Don't wanna see your picture
Shoppin' beside that street
You're gonna deny a major
Hopin' to die in defeat

My baby, she's on the street
My baby, she's on the street
My baby, she's on the street
Yeah, Bobby, he's on the street
Yeah, Bobby, he's on the street
Oh, well, I know my dog
And he died of the big bad dog
Coppin' the garbage people
Until she gets the T.T. Ball

Anyone?
