on a whim I purchased this here "Truckload of Trouble" disc over the weekend.

Do these blokes know that they can't sing on tune. Like, ever?

Please explain the Pastels to me.

Pastels on auto-tune = horrific idea

Stephen Pastel's voice doesn't BELONG in tune

Actually Geographic have released some pretty good stuff. I probably listen to that recent comp a whole lot more than I would a new Pastels album.

I'd say check out the remixes album. It's fantastic, in my opinion.

yeah, you are probably thinking about maher shalal hash baz or whatever. ACtually it's not a bad records. You have to appreciate odd stuff though.

Love the Geographic compilation - it and "Sea Change" are my official autumn 2002 releases. The Pastels' cover of "Everybody Is A Star" makes me yearn for a new album - it's been, what, five years since the last proper release.

that comp looks interesting maybe only because i recognize some of the names. the best autumn record has been harper lee. odd music? gasp!

Hey Keith would you agree with me that Harper Lee are better than Brighter?

They swear more (gasp)

suspect am close to alone in still rather loving "breaking lines" or "classic line-up" as compared to the collaborations with kevin shields etc. it just always seemed to me that the shambling stuff was what they did best - "illumination" was smart and sassy and would impress more of my friends than "up for a bit"... um, in summary, classic.

btw brighter were teh best band ever but i agree that h. lee are making a fair stab at building up a canon that might yet overhaul them...

My favorite Pastels LP is actually _Mobile Safari_ - the perfect compromise between their pop and atmospheric impulses.

A heckler at a Pastels gig in Glasgow once shouted very loudly between songs 'Get a singer Stephen'. Stephen didn't like that much, got v. cross with the 'square' in the audience, 'I kind of like my voice the way it is'.

I agreed with the heckler.
