I've always seen it as more of a rice cake effect

apparently it's hard to clean

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Thursday, 9 February 2017 00:01 (seven years ago) link

speaking of hard to clean, I like these new Converse but suede and the Irish climate don't really go together in my experience

suede shoes are the worst

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 9 February 2017 09:39 (seven years ago) link

i regret to inform you that your opinion is bad

forest green suede pumas, burgundy suede sambas, row upon row of indie front-end developers with canvas courier bags dotted with band pins, stretching infinitely to the horizon

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 9 February 2017 11:32 (seven years ago) link

Suede is manageable if you are sad enough to buy suede protector and check the weather forecast before putting your shoes on every day.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Thursday, 9 February 2017 11:38 (seven years ago) link

trace those things suck ass whatever they're made of. don't upbraid the suede

checking the weather before you go out is... not rly that sad i'd say

r|t|c, Thursday, 9 February 2017 11:39 (seven years ago) link

Oh for sure, but like checking if it's likely to rain for even an hour while you're at work, to wear suede boots, it does feel extremely attentive.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Thursday, 9 February 2017 11:46 (seven years ago) link

I was indicting myself if that's not clear

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Thursday, 9 February 2017 11:46 (seven years ago) link

I have suede shoes at work and wear tougher shoes on the journey in, it's genuinely no bother

ogmor, Thursday, 9 February 2017 11:48 (seven years ago) link

obv wouldnt wear them in deepest winter filth and i'm not claiming i havent suffered too but suede is still a good deal hardier than ppl squeam

if they're that much of an attention outlier then tbh you've probably been neglecting your leather

r|t|c, Thursday, 9 February 2017 11:54 (seven years ago) link

i should probably at this point confess that i derive a deep fetishistic zen satisfaction from shoe cleaning and watching youtube videos of people doing it so ymmv

r|t|c, Thursday, 9 February 2017 11:54 (seven years ago) link

haha yeah i got some of trainer cleaner stuff a while back and it is quite satisfying. tho i enjoy washing up more : /

tbh the perpetual necessity of mundane tasks and the tiny sense of satisfaction that comes when they're done is a nice consistent pleasure in a world where so much else is beyond control.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Thursday, 9 February 2017 15:46 (seven years ago) link

fuck washing a shoe

this isnt perhaps my most asmr-satisfactory favourited shoe cleaning video but it is p enjoyable given that it's deedeegero from the gerogerigegege

r|t|c, Thursday, 9 February 2017 17:07 (seven years ago) link

i realise this is not kix pertinent

liked both nn and lg's picks, partic the retro runner x knit mashup of the latter since mnml future shoes arent my thing

r|t|c, Thursday, 9 February 2017 17:12 (seven years ago) link

polishing shoes is def therapeutic for me

Spottie, Thursday, 9 February 2017 17:15 (seven years ago) link

polishing shoes is a wonderful activity

marcos, Thursday, 9 February 2017 17:16 (seven years ago) link

two weeks pass...

need some new crepes for spring/summer. Adidas or Nike? Fly knit or superstar? Boost? Zoom? NMD? Presto? LunarCharge? This is a world I know very little about... but I do want some str8 fire beautiful kix

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Thursday, 9 March 2017 13:45 (seven years ago) link

ive been having a bit of a shoe shopping crisis myself

feel like its harder to find cool but original shoes that arent either mainly tasteful or scarce purely due to obscene pricing

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 21:36 (seven years ago) link

it is absolutely crazy to me that kids these days prefer adidas to both jordan and nike

how did that happen? was it the yeezys?

the late great, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 21:45 (seven years ago) link

NMDs

, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 21:47 (seven years ago) link

not sure that's actually true tho is it?

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 21:47 (seven years ago) link

that kids prefer adidas? it absolutely is true

I myself have settled into a comfortable routine of buying nothing but a new pair of white zoom tennis classics every couple of months

the late great, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 21:49 (seven years ago) link

if i see a 20 something they tend to be wearing nike roshes

or are we talking about kids as in actual kids?

Islamic State of Mind (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 21:50 (seven years ago) link

I am talking about black and hispanic teenagers in southern california

the late great, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 21:52 (seven years ago) link

ah ok i am talking about asian kids in southern british columbia

Islamic State of Mind (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 21:52 (seven years ago) link

its the pernicious influence of russia

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 21:53 (seven years ago) link

eh idk could just b what you're seeing where you're at tlg. I see a lot of Jordans and Vans here in PHX.

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 21:56 (seven years ago) link

nope, check the news, nike sales down 10% for FY 2015 and 6% for FY 2016

meanwhile adidas sales up 32% for FY 2015 and 24% for FY 2016

(numbers are for n america)

the late great, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:00 (seven years ago) link

although the numbers are misleading because overall sales is 4x as big for nike as adidas in n america

the late great, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:03 (seven years ago) link

everybody in nyc wears what look like comfortable socks glued to slabs of styrofoam

, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:04 (seven years ago) link

xp

here's an article w different numbers than the ones I cited above, but same general idea

http://fortune.com/2016/08/04/adidas-outperforming-nike-ua/

yeah this is my point m/l. they are enjoying a boost in sales for sure but i dont see anyone toppling nike any time soon.

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:08 (seven years ago) link

adidas is definitely huge-er & i think probably a lot of credit goes to kanye

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:10 (seven years ago) link

huge-er zeitgeist-wise, anyway—obviously it hasn't toppled nike as a company

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:11 (seven years ago) link

xp sales numbers don't tell the whole story though either. skechers outsold adidas too, but trust me, kids don't think skechers are cool.

the late great, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:11 (seven years ago) link

adidas has some nice shoes these days is prob mostly what it comes down to

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:13 (seven years ago) link

yeah the NMDs are probably the biggest culprit, with some Kanye. Also some smart nba signature shoe deals with Harden, Wiggins and Lillard after the disaster deal w Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard.

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:13 (seven years ago) link

willingness to abandon the three stripes is helpful

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:14 (seven years ago) link

sneakers w/o big brands on them def trending

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:15 (seven years ago) link

then if u dont want a huge swoosh on it who cares who makes it anyway

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:16 (seven years ago) link

its not just nmds although those are like the flagship model though, folks are just a lot more open to adidas designs in general
