i just got mine from there. i LOVE them, tho i wish they had more selection. but i ended up finding ones that were great. the home try-on option is wonderful, i almost got my mom sold on new frames from my home try-on box, since my dad says her current ones make her look like the church lady.

i've tried warby parker frames but didn't end up ordering them - they are nice but did not suit me.

the band across the nose is wide and heavy looking in all their frames (because they are all plastic so to be sturdy enough i suppose it has to be that way). if that look doesn't work for your face (i know it's in fashion right now but i still can't get over how unsuited it is to my face).. you're out of luck. i worried that they are so masculine style, they made me look a little too androgynous! if i had longer hair/more obvious makeup it would be a better look

Purple and Love - you're good! I shied away from the kind without rims at the bottoms because I like to cover my eye bags but I got another free CC pair last year that are the same (I'm actually wearing them now) so I'm optimistic.

I also ordered these, which are the sunglasses I currently have in red (sometimes with the hair I feel like I am a bit overloaded with red..) I ordered these from Zenni because (a) I really like the red pair's shape/fit and (b) CC charges an extra $60(!!) for sunglass tint. It's probably higher quality or whatever but the Zenni ones came to $50 without any coupon at all, tint included.

I've more or less ditched G+, too, other than using it as a platform on which to share and discuss articles w/ Jeff (like how we used to use Google Reader before they pooped all over it).

Don't tell Jesse because he'll start hounding me about it, but sometimes I think about putting up an anonymouse FB profile just to stay in the loop. But FB has such a creepy "people you may know" algorithm that I'm afraid it will take like a week before the same high school creepers and righteously estranged family members start e-pawing at my door.

I only ever shared stuff w/ Jeff via Reader but we did it a lot. G+ is a poor substitute.

I thought about doing the same for twitter since I would like something more anonymous - if I even add a couple of the same friends, it'll just start telling everyone "Lex is over here!" :( Social media is annoying.

I just ignore estranged people and high school acquaintances, tbh. It's easy, you just push "no" if they try to befriend you and never, ever think about it again :)

I've got some very tenacious family members (details on the family problems thread if you're interested) and I'm not afraid to say no/block but I also get tired of having to constantly police my personal virtual space from folks who can't take "ignore" for an answer. This one shitheel that I was good friends with in college went total Fox News Neocon once the drugs wore off, I guess, and I unfriended him and he seriously wrote me six messages started with "Did you accidentally unfriend me? Hey!" devolving to, "I guess you can't deal with someone challenging your opinions, you bitch."

I just don't need that kind of crap in my life.

Jenny, you could set up a fb w/pseudo name, and make the privacy settings so that you can't be friended AND you can't be messaged - then you have total control. And you can set it so your friends list is only visible to your friends.

But the white sunglasses I ordered - I fucked up! I bought the wrong kind of lens. I paid $20 for transition lenses that tint to 60% grey, when I wanted lens (that were $5!) permanently tinted to 80%. Going to test them in sunlight this afternoon to see how fast/dark it becomes but then probably sending it back, for only a stupid 50% refund n a $50 pair, grr. Then like a chump I will probably order them again with the proper tint. I can't believe I managed to pair more than I needed to for a shittier product. :(

The freebies are great! They made up for the sadness of the other pair. Also, husband is going to order me a pair of his choosing (from a list of 5 I suggested) so I will soon forget the sunglass saga altogether.

Hey do you remember when we talked about those glasses that have maths symbols on the temples and how we were like this is cool unless you're actually a mathematician (mathsematician?) and then maybe it feels kind of silly? Well, those same people now make glasses with punctuation symbols on the temples (colon and semicolon) and YOU KNOW WHAT? I want them.

Yeah! I saw those. Pretty badass EXCEPT the nature of there being two punctuation marks (or math symbols) fucks with my symmetry-needing OCD. :(

Finally got my eyes checked again. Prescription got worse. Picked out a pair of specs that I liked but wasn't wild about. They came to nearly $400 AFTER INSURANCE. What the hell? I did not buy them. Instead I came back to the office and ordered a pair of cheap glasses from Zenni. I mean, sheesh.

I would have ordered some new sunglasses, too, but nothing they had was big and black enough. I'll probably get a pair of those delightful DC punctuation glasses one of these days, but I think I wanted to spend very little on glasses specifically to make a point. A point to no one, mind you, but that didn't stop me.

Hello. I have stupid question. Is the pupillary distance measurement just how much/little they bend the wire over your nose or does it have some actual effect on the lenses?

I ask partly because I'm wondering how expensive it is if you get it wrong and partly because I have a wide nose and, idk, just wondering if that relates to anything on the order form really

It effects the placement/orientation of the lenses, I believe. I fucked up the PD number on a pair of glasses I ordered online and they are miserable to wear. I am pretty sure it's unrelated to the wire over your nose, since that is not always bendable, depending on your frames.
