di smith (lucylurex), Saturday, 29 March 2003 13:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Singers that cover great songs by great artists ned to be rolled down a hill in a barrel full of rusty nails. DOWN WITH THE DIXIES... Ive heard that lame ass song one too many times.

Lola Falana, Saturday, 29 March 2003 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

no i love tori amos.
it doesn't have banjo, but it has piano. also it isn't by the dixie chicks.

I think 'Neighborhood Threat' by Iggy Pop is the greatest song ever. Sadly, I really don't think we are ever going to reach a happy medium on this one.

(Although I've never actually heard the Dixie Chicks song, so who knows? Maybe it IS better.)

And now almost completely off topic, I was so disappointed tonight on American Idol when the guy said he liked to call a fusion of country and rock "country rock", I really thought he was going to say "cock" there for a second.

The stupid Dixie hoes butchered the Fleetwood Mac Song. The Dixie Hicks should've stuck to blowing farmers.

Ethereal, Monday, 31 March 2003 17:43 (twenty-three years ago)

yes i *do* miss that...

rebekah (rebekah), Monday, 31 March 2003 18:57 (twenty-three years ago)

I think i liked the smashin pumpkins version best.
But yes landslide performed by teh diixie chix is an amazing song. And for some reasons when i try ot think of dixxiechixxxxx songs, why is the only thing i can think of is songs by the corrs. Does anyone think they sound kind of similar?

Viviano, Friday, 4 April 2003 13:30 (twenty-three years ago)

no they don't sound like the corrs. the corrs are musically bland.

di smith (lucylurex), Sunday, 6 April 2003 06:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Personally, I am getting real sick and tired of minor talent musicians making big money off of other peoples songs. Bands like Smashing Pumpkins cover songs for artistic expression, and this is fine. But no-talents like the Dixie Chicks are just out to make a quick million!

Bands like Smashing Pumpkins cover songs for artistic expression

then how come they suck so much?

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 8 April 2003 19:30 (twenty-three years ago)

the greatest song ever is now "he war" by cat power, as dictated by me.

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 14 April 2003 00:02 (twenty-three years ago)

That's better. I love that freakin record!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 14 April 2003 00:06 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, me too.

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 14 April 2003 00:11 (twenty-three years ago)

i think i like "good woman" best.

thanks andrew for the recommendations!

rebekah (rebekah), Monday, 14 April 2003 05:20 (twenty-three years ago)

"no-talents out to make a quick million" = the essence of rock'n'roll

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Monday, 14 April 2003 05:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey we DID find some common ground, I fucking love that song. Now to find 40 dollars for the CD.

Livvie Tapper (Livvie), Monday, 14 April 2003 10:57 (twenty-three years ago)

i'd burn you a copy, but i don't actually have a cd burner.

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 14 April 2003 19:40 (twenty-three years ago)

four weeks pass...
I think you people missed the point. This fuckin song has been convered so much it doesnt matter who wrote it or whos playing it now. like everything else it has become overplayed yet again by yet another artist. I was fuckin sick of it years ago before the dixies ever even released their version of it. O yah and if i ever hear another rip of brown eyed girl im gonna kill everyone
