OK I know this hasn't started yet, but who all else is really looking forward to it?

Minty (Minty), Sunday, 1 February 2004 04:12 (twenty years ago) link

Me me I am!

Minty (Minty), Sunday, 1 February 2004 04:12 (twenty years ago) link

i am, with chipsndip and a possible relative making an ass of themselves who could possibly resist

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 1 February 2004 04:13 (twenty years ago) link

I'm hoping that a few vacuous talentquest poseurs from my high school are still sufficiently deluded to try out. Schadenfreude ahoy!

Minty (Minty), Sunday, 1 February 2004 04:15 (twenty years ago) link

I'm watching it now!! I hope I see someone I know.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 1 February 2004 06:54 (twenty years ago) link

...I have to say I was a little underwhelmed.

Minty (Minty), Sunday, 1 February 2004 07:39 (twenty years ago) link

No one was really that good.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 1 February 2004 07:49 (twenty years ago) link

I'm really sad no one I know was on it.

Livvie (Livvie), Sunday, 1 February 2004 09:50 (twenty years ago) link

yeah i didn't see my airhead cousin on it, darn.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 1 February 2004 20:16 (twenty years ago) link

why dint you audition di? you could have sung 'boys of summer'

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:58 (twenty years ago) link

um probably for the same reason you didn't audition for australian idol. and the fact that fiona mcdonald is a judge and i'd rather groom an old man's athletes foot than be in the same room with her.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 1 February 2004 23:17 (twenty years ago) link

haha good reason. actually i didn't audition because i didn't know the auditions were even on! although i gather everyone who was ok-to-good didn't even make it in front of the "judges".

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 1 February 2004 23:51 (twenty years ago) link

i didn't know that. actually they didn't even hold any auditions in dunedin, and the way the judges were talking on the show last night they were shocked and stunned that they found ANY "talent" in christchurch (ha! seeing as the south island has a dearth of musicality and all).

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 2 February 2004 00:10 (twenty years ago) link

yeah someone on another message board went to the auditions and anyone who wasn't bad or amazing was sent packing very early on.

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 2 February 2004 00:22 (twenty years ago) link

Was it just me, or did it look like they really didn't pick many people? There were sposed to be 60 in all, I don't think we saw them pick more thasn like 10. Are they saving all the rest for Auckland, or what?

Minty (Minty), Monday, 2 February 2004 01:58 (twenty years ago) link

It didn't seem as good as American or Australian Idol, though we'll see. Also I hate Dominic Bowden.

Livvie (Livvie), Monday, 2 February 2004 11:46 (twenty years ago) link

i'm looking forward to the show that the NZ Idol rejects are making!

alex (alex), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 06:20 (twenty years ago) link

It was amazing and INSPIRING to see that no-one could really sing. I'm so fucking SICK of that LOUD LOUD BALLADS etc style, don't people realise microphones make that kinda irrelevant?

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 12:56 (twenty years ago) link

I'm kinda talking crap btw

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 13:16 (twenty years ago) link

It is horrible, and I can't wait to see what piece of shit single comes from the show, there's something entertaining about failures. I still treasure the memories of true bliss

Menelaus Darcy (Menelaus Darcy), Monday, 15 March 2004 00:13 (twenty years ago) link

Go Big Dave! Even though he sung a Zed song last night, he's still far and away the best.

Minty (Minty), Monday, 15 March 2004 01:13 (twenty years ago) link

&If that ugly little mole-boy becomes NZ Idol, I'm leaving the country.

Minty (Minty), Monday, 15 March 2004 01:14 (twenty years ago) link

Go Moleboy go!

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 15 March 2004 01:51 (twenty years ago) link

Just pulling yr leg mate

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 15 March 2004 01:51 (twenty years ago) link

it's excrutiating!!!!!!

rainy (rainy), Monday, 15 March 2004 02:39 (twenty years ago) link

excruciating?

rainy (rainy), Monday, 15 March 2004 02:39 (twenty years ago) link

The second, I think. But yes I agree it's AWFUL, no one is any good. I still love watching it though.

Livvie (Livvie), Monday, 15 March 2004 02:44 (twenty years ago) link

I like Dave best too. It was at least a bit better this week! The last few weeks it was just looking hopeless.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Monday, 15 March 2004 02:52 (twenty years ago) link

I can't forgive Dave for the things he does to Carpenters songs. I actually don't think I want ANY of them to win.

Livvie (Livvie), Monday, 15 March 2004 02:58 (twenty years ago) link

I liked his Carpenters song! But then, you could fit all I know about the Cartpenters on the back of a matchbox. You wouldn't even have to use a very fine pen.

Minty (Minty), Monday, 15 March 2004 04:30 (twenty years ago) link

True, you don't even know how to spell their name

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 15 March 2004 06:41 (twenty years ago) link

Hey anyone else a bit shocked at the 7 boys 3 girls lineup? Tho I saw a few audience shots before and spotted about ONE guy, so that prob explains it. Why did it happen here rather than on US/Aust whatever idol tho?

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 15 March 2004 06:43 (twenty years ago) link

"Shocked", geez. Surprised, maybe.

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 15 March 2004 06:47 (twenty years ago) link

Stop calling him "big Dave" we're not blind

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 15 March 2004 06:47 (twenty years ago) link

i don't watch this show, i don't have time. if i didn't sleep, i would watch it.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 00:38 (twenty years ago) link

Blind people are allowed to watch TV! Stop being so blindphobic, Roo.

Minty (Minty), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 01:58 (twenty years ago) link

You anti-blindite

Minty (Minty), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 01:59 (twenty years ago) link

He's done two Carpenters (haha I just spelt it "Crapenters") songs, the first one was worse. He makes them all, I dunno, that thing that they do where they wanna show off their voice and so the song gets all overwrought and trilly. But they all do that I guess.

Livvie (Livvie), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 03:34 (twenty years ago) link

Di, watching it is a bit like sleeping, but with far more cringing-in-embarrassment.

rainy (rainy), Sunday, 21 March 2004 01:46 (twenty years ago) link

i'm watching it now. its boring.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 21 March 2004 08:10 (twenty years ago) link

Did you all see Chris Knox in the audience last night? He was sitting behind Fiona with his daughter.

The only place left to win tickets to the final is off the TVNZ website, http://nzidol.nzoom.com/competition.html . I just entered, actually. Good luck!

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 26 April 2004 08:52 (twenty years ago) link

Hey if you win, what's your sign going to say?
All you Idol folks should have a look at http://www.idolblog.com/

What's the "controversy" about Michael um Murphy's single? I read there was some "surrounding" it in the paper but I have no idea what it is.

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:02 (nineteen years ago) link

Some American band reckon he ripped the single offa them:

Hey Anton! And thank you

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 20 September 2004 12:22 (nineteen years ago) link

No prob. Did you (or anyone) see the David Kilgour show in Ak?

Minty (Minty), Monday, 20 September 2004 12:30 (nineteen years ago) link

Fuck, when was that? No.

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 20 September 2004 12:44 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah that Robyn person found the original, I read all about it on the Herald website at work and completly forgot to mention it. I got real bored of it actually!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Monday, 20 September 2004 23:37 (nineteen years ago) link

Hey did any of you guys see Michael Murphy on Top of the Pops? He was wearing an ironic Betty Ford Clinic t-shirt and when he was through singing all the teenage girls from the audience crowded around him, except for one guy who looked like Tama from Shortland Street who was WEARING HEADPHONES. He had the right idea though, that song kinda sucks.

Avril Lavignstein, Tuesday, 21 September 2004 10:18 (nineteen years ago) link

No, I still haven't heard this song not that that's very surprising I guess, I'd like to tho
