I hate Davy Jones' dancing

As much as I like the Monkees (especially the three members who aren't Davy Jones), I must make sure everyone knows that this man cannot dance. He dances in every episode and I find it painful to watch. The worst was in Daydream Believer when he dances all alone in that room. Boohoo.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Monday, 28 October 2002 09:51 (twenty-three years ago)

No-one could bear to be in the room to see it. He looks like he's having some kind of attack!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 28 October 2002 09:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Monday, 28 October 2002 10:06 (twenty-three years ago)

And here is proof that he dances badly to this very day!!!!!!!

Nice package, Davy

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 28 October 2002 10:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Man you guys are so stupid to like Rubicon better than the Datsuns and say that davy jones can't dance.

treena meldicott, Tuesday, 29 October 2002 04:41 (twenty-three years ago)

It's just that dancing, the "Daydream Believer" video's the best example, is horrible! I LOVE that song but the dancing almost spoils it for me. I honestly don't like Rubicon at all, btw.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 05:12 (twenty-three years ago)

oh god Davy no PUT IT AWAY!

he looks like ray columbus in that first photo too.

petra jane (petra jane), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 05:17 (twenty-three years ago)

elisabeth i was going to start a thread about hating davy jones' singing, cos it creeps me out. rubicon and the datsuns suck in equal amounts.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 05:46 (twenty-three years ago)

OK this thread is now officially "I hate Davy Jones' dancing and singing!" He really is the least appealing Monkee isn't he? Which one's yr favourite? Mine's Mike.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 05:50 (twenty-three years ago)

E. can you tell me who sings the following songs and i'll tell you who my favourite is: she, pleasant valley sunday, last train to clarksville, the girl i knew somewhere.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 05:57 (twenty-three years ago)

(possibly they all have diff singers but thats okay)

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 05:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Mickey sings Pleasant Valley Sunday and Last Train to Clarksville, dunno about the other one. I like Mickey. Did you see that thing about them on TV a few weeks back? I missed most of it.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 06:04 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm not sure i can pick, cos mickey is my fave singer (oh E, you really must hear "she", its choice and i think mickey sings) but mike nesmith is also really cool.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 06:08 (twenty-three years ago)

oh you taped me "She"! I like it.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 06:10 (twenty-three years ago)

the porpoise song is also great, have you heard that?

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 06:13 (twenty-three years ago)

"words" is choice too (scarey bv's). "a little bit me a little bit you" would be excellent if davy didn't sing it.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 06:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Yep I like the porpoise song. Poor Davy! One of the websites I found said he was the best tambourine player in the world, haha.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 06:21 (twenty-three years ago)

well at least he's good for sumthing.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 06:27 (twenty-three years ago)

have youse seen 'head'? i don't think davy dances in it, & you get to say "i got head at the video store"! (yeah i know, HILARIOUS)

calum, Tuesday, 29 October 2002 06:51 (twenty-three years ago)

no I haven't! but me and Andrew were just talking about it yesterday and know someone who owns it, so hopefully I'll get to see it soon. It's sounding even better now.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 06:55 (twenty-three years ago)

& you get to say "i got head at the video store"! (yeah i know, HILARIOUS)
I have got to see that movie now.

Livvie, Tuesday, 29 October 2002 08:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Davy Jones is a jockey living without shiny shirt or horse.

ducklingmonster, Tuesday, 29 October 2002 09:38 (twenty-three years ago)

He used to be a jockey, apparently... "Porpoise Song" is my favourite Monkees track and one of my favourite "psychedelic" songs ever. Mike's the BEST! Mickey was a great singer but kind of annoying sometimes otherwise. "Words" rules. I want Head.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 13:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Well its kinda obvious. Isnt he brave for breaking free from his jockey or panto destiny and dancing his little pointy boots off?

ducklingmonster, Tuesday, 29 October 2002 18:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Pointy Boots: the little known Monkees noise track. Recorded on a bender in New York City. Davy Jones dancing dressed as a dancing monke/y/e for Andy Warhol...

ducklingmonster, Tuesday, 29 October 2002 18:35 (twenty-three years ago)

& you get to say "i got head at the video store"! (yeah i know, HILARIOUS)
same reason anyone ever buys Felt!
why does nobody else love Randy Scouse Git?

alex (alex), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 23:11 (twenty-three years ago)

i like that song, sure.
"head" made me wanna jump off the ak harbour bridge (yeah it was that good!)

unknown or illegal user (doorag), Wednesday, 30 October 2002 00:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I LOVE his dancing - he was one one the best fruggers of the decade. By the way Andrew, is your Cleanbridges a reference to te G!st track - just wonderin' like...

Jez (Jez), Friday, 1 November 2002 13:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah it is. I was kind of running out of ideas at the time. Someone once misheard it as "cleanBRITCHES", but yeah I love that song.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Saturday, 2 November 2002 02:24 (twenty-three years ago)

britches is a funny word

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Saturday, 2 November 2002 02:27 (twenty-three years ago)

one month passes...
Davy does so do a fantastic dance number in Head. Really well done for a man who can't dance.

scottstreat (scottstreat), Sunday, 8 December 2002 23:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I hate Davy Jones as a horse jockey even more.

mallory bourgeois (painter man), Thursday, 9 January 2003 06:33 (twenty-three years ago)

five months pass...

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 04:50 (twenty-three years ago)

and has anyone ever seen them in the same room together?

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 04:51 (twenty-three years ago)

They're keeping their involvement under wraps no doubt

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 11:57 (twenty-three years ago)

one year passes...
di and i just watched "head"!!

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 12 November 2004 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

di: "justyn when you make films will you make them like 'head'?"

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 12 November 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

naturally i agreed, but i think i may have set myself too high a goal.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 12 November 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

"high" indeed
