Gold is the only one I don't like!

Gold + fat permanent marker, really

The beaver is not the bad guy (El Tomboto), Tuesday, 24 January 2017 05:11 (seven years ago) link

silver has the best contrast between labels and background so you could actually read them under dim light

sarahell, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 05:36 (seven years ago) link

silver & black are for people who buy things already thinking about resale value

The beaver is not the bad guy (El Tomboto), Tuesday, 24 January 2017 17:39 (seven years ago) link

wish minilogue came in black

am0n, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 17:46 (seven years ago) link

Voted black, it's just classic. I don't really dislike any of them, though in my mind red synth = Nord, forever.

emil.y, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 17:55 (seven years ago) link

Gold compliments the silver of the Minilogue.

silver is for people that actually play shows as opposed to hobbyists that just like cool shit in cool colors

sarahell, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 20:55 (seven years ago) link

that too

The beaver is not the bad guy (El Tomboto), Tuesday, 24 January 2017 22:58 (seven years ago) link

I like the silver because it looks like someone took my copy of Rebirth and turned it into hardware

I wish the gold had inverted keys actually

basically I just need a very tacky prop synthesizer is what I'm realizing here

Blue says "Korg MS2000" to me.

And Mono/Poly and Polysix. Classic Korg synth color. I chose it. Red would be my choice in a "Best color SH-101" poll.

As (probably maybe) the only person who has had all of them at the same time in front of him I have no idea although I also do not really like the gold.

Here, let me Danesplain that for you (jjjusten), Wednesday, 25 January 2017 16:50 (seven years ago) link

That said, the gold was the first one I sold, followed by the blue so THE PEOPLES HAS SPOKEN

the blue is viscerally appealing to me but I probably wouldn't get it

(The caption: “fine dining.”) (DJP), Wednesday, 25 January 2017 16:57 (seven years ago) link

i voted blue. gold is my least favorite, a remnant of my hatred for gold hardware on guitars

na (NA), Wednesday, 25 January 2017 16:58 (seven years ago) link

I hate gold on everything. Gold painted cars are the ugliest cars. This is more like oh that one's gross I want that

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Monday, 30 January 2017 00:01 (seven years ago) link

Unrelated to paint schemes, I think having a microtuning / save-your-custom-scales (as long as they're 12 notes or less?) feature on a monophonic synth is totally some marketing bullshit so they could brag about partying with AFX. I had some gear that allowed microtuning way back in the day, and it basically existed as a feature to make that instrument totally incompatible with everything else in an arrangement. Also, IIRC, it's a lot less difficult to microtune when you can hold more than one tone at a time. So yeah Korg *makes WTF gesture with hands, SMDH*

2017, how bad could it be? (snoball), Tuesday, 31 January 2017 19:47 (seven years ago) link

one year passes...

Silver looks nice with the wood, but then you start to wonder if it will get worn out like a dingy old laptop. Just ordered blue, so I'm glad to see I'm in good company here. This will be my first synth! Does this mean everybody will go back to guitars now?

Also, red synth for me =

like a dingy old laptop

Or an old boombox. But isn't the finish on the Monologue paint on metal so therefore less likely to come off?

Visibly Over 25 (snoball), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 18:04 (five years ago) link

Also if they made a desktop/rackmount version I'd buy one immediately. I know that someone's done a mod to remove the keys and rework the case, but they used a milled aluminium plate to cover the gap, which I didn't like the look of.

Visibly Over 25 (snoball), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 18:06 (five years ago) link

Or at least a 3 octave C-C mini key version. That 2 octave E-E looks weird and I have no idea why Korg made that decision over 2 octave C-C.

Visibly Over 25 (snoball), Wednesday, 3 October 2018 18:09 (five years ago) link

To make monologue a synth that any musician can immediately pick up and play, the keyboard covers the E–E range of notes - just like a guitar or bass.

As a guitar/bass player, this sounds totally stupid but everything else about it worked for me. I just figured I could use a midi controller if I needed a different range.
