Incubus (Movie - 1966)

I knew William Shatner had done a movie in Esperanto from reading about him and noticed the film "Incubus" was on Turner Classic Movies late last night, so I checked it out. Got to say the Esperanto along with the 60s black and white cinematography definitely gives it a weird off kilter vibe. They definitely liked using some spawn of Satan in horror movies back in those days. It's a pretty good B movie.

Reading up on the background I see the writer/director Leslie Stevens was the creator of the Outer Limits, which really makes sense as this movie definitely has the odd vibe of that show or say The Twilight Zone. It also has a lurid off screen tale that the actor the played the "Incubus" was involved in a murder/suicide with one of Mickey Rooney's wives.

In the end, very trippy.

There's a cool shot where the doorway to this ramshackle hut is framing shatner ambling down the hill
It was like ooh arty!

Conrad Hall who was the cinematographer ended up doing some pretty big work later on, as this was his first film.

I'm glad I checked it out and I think fans of horror or just weird movies of the 60s and 70s would find Incubus worth checking out.

Was going to ask if it was the only Esperanto film but did some research and found this page on wikipedia. IMDB seems to include stuff that was later dubbed into Esperanto, which wasn't what I was after.
