randomly typing out offensive words (Roberto Spiralli), Monday, 22 December 2008 17:46 (fifteen years ago) link

fyi roberto i wouldnt rest on your laurels i dont want to say anything but i may or may not be seeking advice regarding your entry from an online community

eman cipation s1ocklamation (max), Monday, 22 December 2008 17:47 (fifteen years ago) link

that would be a shame. btw max, the weather is treacherous out right now. if you were to have an 'accident' that would also be a shame. just something to think about.

randomly typing out offensive words (Roberto Spiralli), Monday, 22 December 2008 17:52 (fifteen years ago) link

Dear ice cr?m,

I enjoy your vlog. Do you have any words of advice as to how to regularly sit my ass on the mat and do the things that the nice people at the shambhala center taught me to do? 'Cause I ain't really doing those things even though I know they would be helpful to me.

quincie, Monday, 22 December 2008 19:18 (fifteen years ago) link

o ha did u go to the dc shambhala center? im trying to think if i know anyone there

im certainly no expert on this topic as my ilx time dwarfs my meditation time but there are def some simple thing you can do

meditate for a short period of time - ten minutes is fine - dont make a big deal out of it - really if yr interested in this training consistency is more important than quantity

create an appropriate place in yr home - simple uncluttered comfortable etc - i have a pretty elaborate shrine in my house - if thats too religious for you u can always just light some incense or a candle - all of these things help to create a good environment

enjoy yrself and keep an open mind - just practice the form and see what happens while avoiding an overly ponderous or serious approach - any sort of fulfillment or failure fantasies will always be inadequate

then the other aspect is whether you have an interest in buddhist teachings - hearing studying and contemplating teachings and relating to a community are prob the most effective encouragement for practice - obv all that requires a whole other level of involvement

ice cr?m, Monday, 22 December 2008 19:40 (fifteen years ago) link

I did in fact go to the dc shambhala center in dc and had a v. positive experience there. Upon their recommendation I read "Turning the Mind Into an Ally" and would really like to have a regular sitting practice but seem kinda stuck at actually getting it going in a regular way. Not so much into buddhist teachings per se--I'm down with judaism these days--but the shambhala approach to meditation is appealing to me.

I get very caught up in the "hai am i doing this right?" thing when I sit, and it becomes rather frustrating :(

quincie, Monday, 22 December 2008 19:45 (fifteen years ago) link

well if u liked the shambhala center you should ask them to give you a meditation instructor who can help u w/the lol am i doing this right part and leave out the buddhist philosophy if thats not yr thing - doing a meditation program can def help w/familiarity too

here is me on a mountain in nepal w/the author of turning the mind into an ally - btw i hav lost weight since then

The novel’s Muslim characters include Rabeya, a riot girl who plays guitar onstage wearing a burqa and leads a group of men and women in prayer. There is also Fasiq, a pot-smoking skater, and Jehangir, a drunk.

What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

randomly typing out offensive words (Roberto Spiralli), Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:39 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm glad I found out in time just what a partnership with a pair of wankers like you would've been. A sleeping partner's one thing, but you're in a fucking coma! No wonder you got an energy crisis your side of the water!

The Mafia? I've shit 'em.

i guess my point is, you can use pretty much any line from The Long Good Friday as a caption for that photo

randomly typing out offensive words (Roberto Spiralli), Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:41 (fifteen years ago) link

one thing i was wondering when making my post is do brittishes say "toilet" or do they say some other kind of word

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:41 (fifteen years ago) link

toilet is just fine. Lou is posh tho so he might say WC.

randomly typing out offensive words (Roberto Spiralli), Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:43 (fifteen years ago) link

yah i realized that i wasnt sure if lou referred to the whole bathroom or just the toilet or both or what

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:45 (fifteen years ago) link

i think the british phrase is "fancy closet"

eman cipation s1ocklamation (max), Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:49 (fifteen years ago) link

as in--"oi, i need to drop off some gravy puddin, wheres yer fancy closet mate"

eman cipation s1ocklamation (max), Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Joe, i'm not sure if you are now confusing 'Loo' aka toilet with 'Lou' aka Jags. loo can be used interchangeably for the porcelain and the room itself, like most related brit slang. Lou is the guy in the pic.

randomly typing out offensive words (Roberto Spiralli), Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:50 (fifteen years ago) link

btw, max otm

randomly typing out offensive words (Roberto Spiralli), Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:51 (fifteen years ago) link

ha ok i was ALSO wondering abt the spelling!

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:51 (fifteen years ago) link

ALTERNATIVE TEXT:

Lou: Yes, sweetheart?
Effie: There's a girl wants to see you. Her name's Wonderly.
Lou: A customer?
Effie: I guess so. You'll want to see her anyway. She's a knockout.
Lou: Shoo her in, Effie, darling. Shoo her in!

randomly typing out offensive words (Roberto Spiralli), Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:52 (fifteen years ago) link

i thought u were being all louis doesnt want to sound posh so he might say wc instead of loo

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:52 (fifteen years ago) link

would be other way round. pretty sure no one says WC but it would be pretty posh if you did i reckon. we need the man the myth the legend himself to weigh in because i am common as much tbh

randomly typing out offensive words (Roberto Spiralli), Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:54 (fifteen years ago) link

much=muck

randomly typing out offensive words (Roberto Spiralli), Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:54 (fifteen years ago) link

see now i thought that was some charming brit expression

"common as much tehehe *wink wink*"

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:55 (fifteen years ago) link

oi im as common as the much ye find in yer fancy closet after a noight of biscuits and more biscuits

eman cipation s1ocklamation (max), Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:56 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah, i am not much use as a cross-cultural guide i'm afraid. i'm too much of a maverick.

max has a better handle on being british than i do. i'm guessing you grew up on an army base in the uk or something?

"The story of Thomas Crapper and his achievements has been somewhat confused by Wallace Reyburn's 1969 book Flushed With Pride: The Story of Thomas Crapper"

suspect that Wallace Reyburn would be a strong addition to the ILC team.

Our Crust

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/75/225399709_3811657b5b.jpg?v=0

this is the best pizza you will get in Boston. yeah i have tried Santarpio's, Regina is better, okay? it is so good that i only noticed today that it is like $3.50 a slice. that seems really expensive to me. is that really expensive? anyway, it is good enough to warrant the premium price tag. i would say it is the best pizza in New England but i have it on good authority that there is a place worth trying in New Haven or some other shithole in CT. anyway, lemme cut to the chase here. so i was reading their literature while i ate my slice of cheese (i don't fuck with toppings on pizza. toppings on pizza was the great lie of the 20th century and it's time we put a stop to it). under the section talking about their crust it said their secret recipe was made with a "special natural yeast".

should i be concerned y/n?

randomly typing out offensive words (Roberto Spiralli), Tuesday, 23 December 2008 18:56 (fifteen years ago) link

roberto i will let you know shortly abt the real best pizza in boston - first i hav some business to take care of - i finish things
