As for left-handed relief, of which the Giants have none with Jeremy Affeldt and Dan Runzler shelved, they're serious about Dontrelle Willis eventually being an answer. Willis threw to batters Monday in Arizona for the second straight day, showing an impressive fastball, and is expected to pitch for the Giants' rookie-league team within days.

With Dontrelle Willis not on the 40 man roster, they would have to make a move there to bring him up. Reds kind of have a log jam on the starting 5, especially with Johnny Cueto coming back next week. Leake has been moved to the bullpen.

I think definitely Dontrelle would be the guy called up if something happens to Chapman or Bill Bray. If Travis Wood continues to struggle, Dontrelle Willis might be given a shot to replace him in the starting five. Reds starting pitching has been pretty bad so far, so if it continues, I think the chance will come.

It wasn't a disaster. Didn't catch much but he seems to be driving toward the plate more aggressively. Frequently opened up/missed high and outside to righties like he has the past few years.

Why did he get pulled in the fifth? 69 pitches, 51 strikes(!), one walk, five Ks, five hits allowed (all singles)...

That was probably his best start in four years.

There wasn't another rain delay AFTER the first inning, right? That first-inning delay would not have been a factor since it occurred during the top of the inning, while the Reds were up.
