(VERY CRUCIAL ed. note added by cutter/paster/italicizer)

Ah! I think more sports pieces should have "ed." notes, because they'd probably be more interesting to read than what the columnist has to offer.
Given how great Weaver was back in the day (pre-pinstripes), I wonder if he pitches better when he's baked.

As crucial as adding "WHEN HEALTHY" to the statement "Miguel Cabrera is a dangerous hitter."

Since "WHEN HEALTHY" is actually more like "WHEN PLAYING" -- amirite?

So weird.
The TV broadcast of the 60 minutes Bill James segment used Jeff Weaver clips to show:
1. the significance of walks (Taco Time 3:05) 2. that Fenway favors lefties (epic taco served to J.D. Drew (Taco Time 8:00).
But the embed on CBS's website (linked by Morbs here) edited out Taco Time.

How bad would it be for the Brewers to just bring Jeff Weaver up right now? His 2007 6.20 ERA/career 4.72 ERA, looks pretty good after the Suppan/Turnbow fire + gasoline combo.
NASHVILLE - Weaver was told he was being called up to plug Milwaukee's ailing bullpen in a 2 a.m. phone call, and flew all morning to reach Wrigley Field 2 1/2 hours before game time. "I had no clue," said Weaver, a a 31-year-old former starter for the Tigers, Yankees, Dodgers, Angels, Cardinals, and Mariners. "I was eating tacos at my favorite taqueria in Music Row, getting ready to honky tonk with my friend Mindy (McCready) -- she's been a little down lately -- when they told me I was getting moved. I assumed Scott (Boras) was flipping me to another Triple-A team again," he said. "They said, 'No, the big leagues.' Oh, OK."
Weaver held the Cubs to a mere 3 runs over 4 innings, giving up only 4 walks and 1 home run, and successfully getting some consecutive batters out. "Thank god," Brewers manager Ned Yost commented.
