I was at yesterday's game. I'd never seen the lines so long (beyond the subway entrance) to get in. And this was 1 and a half before first pitch.

I'm no Mets fan, but that was some bullshit, ump.

If Thor would have hit him, I could see maybe throwing him out, but he missed him behind by 3 feet. You give a warning and let the game go on.

earlnash, Sunday, 29 May 2016 02:31 (eight years ago) link

The pool reporter was told by Tom Hallion after the game that there was no warning given before the series, so MOTHERFUCKING BULLSHIT.

Funniest atrocious '80s music cue of the night was "(Don't You) Forget About Me" for the Lagares HR.

I liked the way the '86 intros were structured chronologically acc to the narrative of the season, eg Jesse Orosco last. I was more touched than i expected to be by Strawberry, Gooden, and Carter's son and widow.

Hansel Robles leaving with an apparent injury. He bent over behind the mound following his last pitch.

injuries are starting to remind me of the '72 Mets, who were playing .700 ball in early June and then nearly all the nonpitchers hit the DL.

kelly johnson just going back and forth between the braves and mets until the end of time

mookieproof, Wednesday, 8 June 2016 16:18 (eight years ago) link

i wasn't sure why the mets didn't just keep him in the first place after the initial trade - not like a deal for him was cutting into the necessary salary space for anyone else

That rinky dinky harpsichord at pnc park was killing me the whole series

Michael F Gill, Thursday, 9 June 2016 03:00 (eight years ago) link

that's an organ, son -- sorry you didn't get to hear enough billy joel

liked what ron, gary and co did with the kiner flashbacks, etc. they are so much better than the pirates announcers

mookieproof, Thursday, 9 June 2016 03:28 (eight years ago) link

Was it an organ? It sounded so chipper and thin. The park is gorgeous otherwise.

The Pirates commercial for Atari that was shown was really funny.

johnny crunch, Thursday, 9 June 2016 12:24 (eight years ago) link

Terry Collins floated the idea of shifting Neil Walker to third base and calling up Dilson Herrera to man second. Walker appeared at third for the Pirates in 2009 and 2010.

we can be heroes just for about 3.6 seconds (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 9 June 2016 13:50 (eight years ago) link

maybe should have floated that idea before trading a semi-useful prospect for kelly johnson

johnny crunch, Saturday, 11 June 2016 03:59 (eight years ago) link

Umpire's safe call was probably confusing in the moment, and then Johnson acting like he wasn't out was pretty funny. Lot of weird baserunning in this game.

Conforto staying up mostly cuz the whole lineup sux

Conforto had a .591 OPS in May and watched that number shrink to .372 in June with an 0-for-10 series in Milwaukee last weekend....

“He looks like he’s been trying to pull everything,” said a talent evaluator who has watched Conforto recently. “That’s not him.”

Conforto has dealt with “tenderness” in his left wrist in recent days and was expected to be examined Monday, but the Mets had no update on his condition.
