raul mondesi's kid (i think) is in the bigs for the royals now, and just as expected is an all-glove infielder??

i realize you have to take the age difference into account but other than for about 45 games this year he's been pretty miserable at the plate. most projections put him as a 45 at the plate

k3vin k., Friday, 29 July 2016 02:58 (seven years ago) link

mlb.com gives him a 50, but yeah maybe you're right

he's certainly not a correa/seager/bregman, but he's also been basically four years younger than his competition all along, so it's tough to tell. (and a fair portion of his games have been in wilmington, which is an extreme pitchers' park.)

i'm a little curious why the royals have brought him up now when they don't seem to be going anywhere this year

mookieproof, Friday, 29 July 2016 03:39 (seven years ago) link

he pinch-ran in the world series last year i think. first ever player to make his big league debut in the WS

k3vin k., Friday, 29 July 2016 03:41 (seven years ago) link

albert pujols has nearly as many infield fly balls this season (14) as joey votto has in his career (15)

That's a productive two weeks for Andrelton Simmons.

TROUT

manny machado has 3 HRs today.

it's the 4th inning.

I look forward to hearing from you shortly, (Karl Malone), Sunday, 7 August 2016 19:30 (seven years ago) link

Machado is just the second player in Major League history to hit a home run in the first, second and third inning of the game. The other was Carl Reynolds of the White Sox on July 2, 1930, at the Yankees, according to Stats. Machado is the ninth player in MLB history to hit a homer in three consecutive innings at any point during the game.

sorry if there is another thread on this. sort of not watching baseball right now.

Most recent seasonal Rangers thread is 2013?

Cole Hamels' line for tonight is bizarre: 7 innings, 14 hits and 3 walks, only two runs...Tigers indeed left 13 men on base.

HOU-BAL is a load of lulz so far, 11 runs scored in 1 1/2 innings. And Gattis just blew up Altuve's left shoulder.

what happened to altuve? he ok?

johnny crunch, Saturday, 20 August 2016 00:12 (seven years ago) link

Yeah, it was slightly alarming at first. After McHugh's warmup throws in the 2nd, Gattis threw down to 2nd base and Altuve just completely missed the ball and it hit him on the front of the shoulder joint. It obviously hurt like hell but he's still in the game.

O's hit four homers in the 2nd inning before McHugh got anybody out.
