Matz stays on the DL :/
Rubin:
Terry Collins says the reports are there is no real structural damage with Steven Matz. The concern is about stiffness/tightness in Matz's shoulder, which returned during one toss whole throwing on flat ground Monday. Matz immediately was shut down.... Jacob deGrom moves up a day.
Collins confirms Michael Conforto will join the team when the roster expands Thursday. Conforto will be "in the mix" for playing time, although Collins could not define what that means.

Granderson had a terrible May and an even worse August, but has been around his career numbers the other 3 months. Here's hoping for September, or just a good-spots role in the 5-man outfield.

"Neil Walker has a herniated disk that is causing limited weakness in a foot -- similar to in 2012 with the Pirates. The initial medical opinion suggested he can play through the issue, but a second opinion is being sought to ease Walker's mind. Sandy Alderson said any report of Walker's issue being career-threatening would be inaccurate, and the Mets believe he could be back in the lineup shortly."

NEW YORK -- Will a little extra rest solve Jacob deGrom's recent struggles?“We’ll find out,” New York Mets manager Terry Collins said. “I don’t have an answer for that. If I did, I’d leave this job and go be somewhere else.”DeGrom, who was skipped Monday because Mets officials suspected he was suffering from arm fatigue, opposes Miami Marlins right-hander Jose Urena in Thursday’s 7:10 p.m. ET series finale at Citi Field as the Mets aim for a four-game sweep. DeGrom has allowed 13 runs and 25 hits in 9 2/3 innings over his past two starts.

"With four long balls on Tuesday night, the Mets now have 189 homers -- fourth-most in franchise history. With 23 games remaining, they need only 11 more homers to match the franchise record of 200 set in 2006. A whopping 53.7 percent of the Mets' scoring this season -- 293 of 546 runs -- has come via the homer."

Tebow, who hasn't played organized baseball since his junior year at Nease High School in Ponte Vedra, Florida, in 2005, has been working out with former big league catcher Chad Moeller in Scottsdale, Arizona, since Memorial Day. Tebow spent almost two hours last week at the Southern California's Dedeaux Field running a 60-yard dash, shagging fly balls, throwing from the outfield and taking swings against former major league pitchers David Aardsma and Chad Smith in his audition for clubs.
"well that's all i need to see, sign here."
