Bee OK, Tuesday, 25 April 2017 05:17 (seven years ago) link

yeah! he's been good, I'm telling you. However, now he might be injured.

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 25 April 2017 05:21 (seven years ago) link

what, really? of course it's 2017.

Bee OK, Tuesday, 25 April 2017 05:41 (seven years ago) link

Now, let's talk cell-phone flashlights and the so-called "rally lights" at AT&T Park. Our Sam Whiting wrote about it here. It's cute. It's fun. And it's drawn the attention of the league, which has let the Giants know it's not completely kosher.

A major-league source told me that the umpires have been in contact with the league, which has contacted stadium officials to express its concern that an infielder could get hurt by losing a ball in those flashlights. These are not Hollywood Kleig lights by any means, but if you're standing at third base and a line drive comes at your head, it might be hard to distinguish the ball from those lights.

Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner complained about one light that was shining in his eyes Monday night. The umpires stopped the game briefly and had the customer flip off his light.

Now, this is not the No Fun League. Baseball has not told the Giants that fans cannot do the rally lights. But it wants the team to work with ushers in the sections between the bases behind the plate to get those lights turned off for safety reasons.

The last thing the league wants is to stop a game because of this. For one thing, officials understand that fans being fans, that'll only make them keep the lights on longer, at the expense of their cellphone batteries.

But, the umpires have the right to stop the game and take the drastic measure of ending it. If they do, Giants lose 9-0 by forfeit.

So, if an usher tells you to turn of your cellphone flash, it might be a good idea.

Bee OK, Thursday, 27 April 2017 00:39 (seven years ago) link

Morse is a big apeman beast

i don't understand why the giants and angel pagan are shunning each other

if pagan can't get a deal now, he's not gonna get one at 36. and morse is like the giants' 10th outfielder already this season, and not much of one

mookieproof, Thursday, 27 April 2017 00:49 (seven years ago) link

@BNightengale
The #SFGiants make the severity of Bumgarner's injury official, announcing that he will be out a minimum of 3 months, perhaps until August.

Andy K, Saturday, 29 April 2017 01:51 (seven years ago) link

No respect for the game.

of course

Jeff Samardzija first hit is a game tieing home run. 2-2

Bee OK, Saturday, 29 April 2017 03:22 (seven years ago) link

So I guess the Giants are as bad as they were in the second half of 2016, and unless they find a way to dramatically turn it around in May, it looks like they are going to be sellers. Cueto can opt out this summer, I guess this makes him a good trade target? I think the small core is there (the homegrown infield, Ty Blach, Moore, Bumgarner), everything else is a mess. Nunez and Span are combining for -0,6, that's two third of the infield for the next couple of months.

i saw that last Dodger rally at 2a.m. ET, was hoping BOK wasn't watching

Supercreditor (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 4 May 2017 18:15 (seven years ago) link

i will quit. sorry everyone, baseball is a daily thing and i need to express myself everyday about it. i know ILB is not a place for that and i was using Bags board to post but Mercury News has shut it down so i came back here this year. The Giants are having a horrible start to 2017, so i have been especially bittier about it. again sorry, not my intent.

Bee OK, Friday, 5 May 2017 00:41 (seven years ago) link

this is not looking good. double digits leads by the reds, two nights in a row.

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 7 May 2017 00:34 (seven years ago) link

Bleh. I believed we could get this one.

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 9 May 2017 02:33 (seven years ago) link

I've had enough of Nunez. I don't understand how we went in this season without a proper left field plan.

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 9 May 2017 23:32 (seven years ago) link

last night was brutal. finally get some extra base action from pence/posey and then....

Spottie, Tuesday, 9 May 2017 23:35 (seven years ago) link

Posey walk off. 17 innings and the bullpen kept it together.

tie game, just happened

Bee OK, Thursday, 25 May 2017 01:05 (seven years ago) link

man i really don't like the Cubs. i do think it was great that they won after over 100 years ect but this team is not likable

Bee OK, Thursday, 25 May 2017 01:07 (seven years ago) link

baseball is such a strange sport, there really is nothing better. i think what does it for me is the day to day aspect of it. life is day to day and so when a game happens almost everyday it is a rhythm that can't be matched...plus you get mad or happy but a new day is always different.

Bee OK, Thursday, 25 May 2017 01:26 (seven years ago) link

(just to be clear, i was being sarcastic in that first post) i have been taking a break, so i really don't know.

Bee OK, Thursday, 25 May 2017 01:43 (seven years ago) link

Love Affeldt in the booth, but he could lay off the umps a bit.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 25 May 2017 04:07 (seven years ago) link

you would think playing the Brave you could win some games but being 9 games under .500 is like fools gold.

Bee OK, Saturday, 27 May 2017 02:52 (seven years ago) link

what do fans think of this Christian Arroyo thing?

i think they should send him down to AAA to get some seasoning, as they say, and come back a more polished rookie.
