Playing with fire.

They have 5 innings left with Corbin/Hudson/Doolittle in the pen. Dunno about keeping Scherzer.
― Van Horn Street, Thursday, 31 October 2019 01:30 (four years ago) link
Greinke’s grunting loudly too.
Noticed that the next half-inning and felt stupid. Have I just been oblivious to that all these years?
We see so many great pitchers have their postseason troubles, it'd be nice to see both these guys leave with the score 1-0 or 1-1.

If the Astros lose, these blown chances to score are going to haunt them.

Did Scherzer threaten Martinez’s life?
― Andy K, Thursday, 31 October 2019 01:46 (four years ago) link
Cole I hope you have the energy of game 7 2016 Jon Lester and not of game 7 2014 Bumgarner.

The strikeout pitch to Bregman was the best pitch he's thrown all game.
― NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 31 October 2019 01:49 (four years ago) link
Rendon was so freaking close

Last batter Scherzer pitches to, please
― Van Horn Street, Thursday, 31 October 2019 02:01 (four years ago) link
Washington's lucky it's only 2-0. (And unlucky Cole awaits.)
I'll regret these words, but I can't envision Osuna getting the last out in a 7th WS game. If I were Hinch, I'd be working towards Cole closing out the game and using Osuna earlier.
― clemenza, Thursday, 31 October 2019 02:03 (four years ago) link
I want Osuna to get Chapman'd
― Van Horn Street, Thursday, 31 October 2019 02:04 (four years ago) link
Take a pitch.

This is turning into the signature moment of Greinke's career, the kind of game that will be mentioned in every bio when he's on the HOF ballot.

― Van Horn Street, Thursday, 31 October 2019 02:39 (four years ago) link
These last nine outs are going to be very difficult.
I'm always on here complaining about starters being pulled too early, but--Buck Martinez is in full second-guess mode right now--I think Hinch got Greinke out of there at exactly the right moment. He'd gotten more from him than he ever dreamed, and he handed it over to someone who's mostly been untouchable this year.
― clemenza, Thursday, 31 October 2019 02:43 (four years ago) link
Yeah dunno why the broadcast is second guessing putting in Cole who has no relief experience and played yesterday.
― Van Horn Street, Thursday, 31 October 2019 02:44 (four years ago) link
That pitch Kendrick got wasn't bad either, Kendrick really fished for it.
― Van Horn Street, Thursday, 31 October 2019 02:45 (four years ago) link
He pulled Greinke at the right time, the second guessing will be why Harris and not Cole.
