I don't give a shit about Church, but I'm awfully glad to be rid of the deaf, dumb and blind boy.

"Omar has always talked to me and told me how much he likes my energy and the way that I play," Francoeur said. "I'm looking forward to getting up there and playing in front of a packed house every night."

lol citi will be a graveyard soon at this rate

http://www.nj.com/mets/index.ssf/2009/07/new_york_mets_trade_ryan_churc.html

"We like Ryan Church a lot," Minaya said. "But right now we just wanted to change it up a little bit. Unfortunately for him (Church), he got hurt. When he got hurt, he was having a pretty good year. ... We thought we just needed something different. It had nothing to do with not liking Ryan.... One thing we like about Francoeur is the amount of games that he plays."

enbba champions (omar little), Saturday, 11 July 2009 02:35 (fourteen years ago) link

he has energy, he plays the game in a likeable way, and he plays a lot of games.

as neyer noted:

Since coming off the DL in early June, Church's line is .290/.336/.402 ... far from good for a corner outfielder, but decent enough compared to most of the Mets' other outfielders ... and of course a far sight prettier than Francoeur's .250/.282/.352 line for the season.

enbba champions (omar little), Saturday, 11 July 2009 02:42 (fourteen years ago) link

the dude is hitting like julio franco did when he was 50

north sea jazz dit weekend (call all destroyer), Saturday, 11 July 2009 02:48 (fourteen years ago) link

.273/.330/.370 was julio's line in his last full season w/the mets

And when they ask 'bout me, you say "He threw it down, threw it down, threw it down, threw it down, threw it down"

they should have found a way in francoeur-church trade to include 3rd underachieving NL East RF hermida & made it 3-way

WHAT THE FUCK!!!!! i cant bealive this shit the braves are so fucking stupid right now they traded a home town hero for a slightly less talented older guy. jeff should have been a brave for life u assholes! and if we couldnt avoid this we should have atleast tryed to get someone worth it! this kind of idiocracy pisses me off. and it sux cuz i want ... Read Morejeff to fail as a player because hes with our rivals or be productive in a way that dosent help the team win or just get traded to a team out of the division. we'll miss u J. FRANK!

Duncan in LF in Boston makes a ton of sense, and he can also play 1B, and they got him for nothing.

Supposedly the Dodgers gave up Tony Abreu for Garland because the DBacks picked up most of his salary. Not too sad to see him go. Also management has hated his (injured) guts for the past 2 years and Im surprised he stuck around as long as he did.
