Dodgers pitching witchcraft is seriously unparalleled though. Brasier went from being a guy you’d see come into the end of a Red Sox game and go “punting” to being a solid pair of hands again. Fully expect them to work their same magic on Lynn, but also that it won’t matter that much.

Getting everything you want usually means you don’t win the World Series these days, right? Dodgers have 1 World Series win in the last 33+ years. The Yankees may never have another losing season but it feels like they are further than ever from the pennant. And the Padres thought they got the greatest trade deadline deal ever with Soto and Hader, but are now contemplating trading both as they can barely manage to be a .500 team.

To be clear Lance Lynn had 10 clubs on his no trade list and the Dodgers were one of them.

Mets are going to have to pay down those Verlander and Scherzer contracts to get anyone to take them. Verlander has been more consistent than Scherzer though Scherzer obviously spent time in LA before and crushed them like a couple of weeks ago? Supposedly Rangers also interested in Verlander.

Wow

I know Manoah's a villain these days, but there was absolutely no intent with Taylor Ward. Bases loaded, one out, no score, and he was down in the count 2-0. The pitch was, according to mlb.com, a 91.7 mph sinker. That's just a reflection of Manoah's complete lack of command this year.

Yeah there was no intent, that’s not what I mean. He was pitching pretty wild since he came back in the two starts I’ve seen of his. But he looked devastated on the mound and again I think it was irresponsible to bring him back so soon.

You can argue about that, sure. He's been battling control every step of the way, although, weirdly enough, he mostly looked good today.

Never heard of Ronald's brother Luisangel Acuna before today but I simply would not trade him for a washed up pitcher making $40mn a year.

Scherzer trade on hold for now apparently. Looks like that rumour list might still come to fruition Bee OK (I really hope it doesn’t).

Brutal couple of days for the Angels. You hate to see a team go all in and then immediately get crushed by their direct rival in the wildcard journey. Probably silly to expect anything but this result tho

Took a cursory look at Acuna's minor-league stats, and he does look pretty good. It doesn't happen very often, but this does like at least a potential Smotz/Bagwell-type deadline trade.

The Angels' acquisition of these players already paid a dividend. Grichuk hit a homer last night. Cron got a hit (nearly a HR) and was very solid at 1B.

Verlander seems to be the biggest name going around at the moment, do wonder if he will be dealt?

There’s a lot of talk about it, can only see him going to the Astros but depends how much of his salary the Mets eat and who they send, I guess. Might be tapped out after paying to get rid of Scherzer.
