I was just reading Brisbee’s piece about this in The Athletic. Total nonsense.

Snell to the Giants. At least some good news to distract from the bad yesterday. Rotation is legitimately one of the best in the league now. Could make some noise in the post season if they make it that far.

2 year deal with an opt out though. Win now situation, which is weird to say about this team. Would have probably preferred a 2-3 year deal to at least have some stability there, but with Ray coming back in the 2nd half and Harrison hopefully improving, perhaps Snell leaving in the off season won't be a huge concern.

Joey Bart made the team, Luciano and Matos were sent down and they cut the Panda today.

Ok, I need to talk about this first series, as the fat tomorrow is just playing on house money.

Game 1: Webb and Darvish were dealing. Our bullpen guy was pitching batting practice, game was 59/50.

Game 2: Harrison can pitch, what a debut for 2024. Chapman can make a difference.

Game 3: Hicks experiment could work out and this team also has Snell?

Jung Hoo Lee is already my favorite Giant.

He’s so fucking good. Maybe not the best in the field but he’s got charisma and he hits!

And yeah Kyle Harrison did really well in his start, love to see it

It’s such a shock to see them hitting well. They were dead at the plate last year. I loved Tom Murphy when he was a Mariner and if he stays healthy he’s *always* a problem in the lineup.

Jordan Hicks had a great start: 7 innings, 1 ER, 90 pitches. Really think he could go 8 against a worse lineup. I assume he’s not coming out for the 8th.

Snell is going to drive me nuts, had something like 55 pitches in the first two innings. Only lasted three and the lost, with all those walks, is on him.

This all happened against, let me check my notes, the Nationals.

Snell barely had any ramp up time, ofc he’s going to be dogshit his first time out. That said, running the bases loaded constantly is exactly the pitcher he is and always has been.

I'm having a hard time with this years team. They still can't hit, witch makes no sense. They spent all that money and it feels like they are running in mud.

Webb is steady af, I was thinking about him specifically because of how efficient his starts are. Andrew Bailey is a miracle worker.

Patrick Bailey made history with the walk-off blast, becoming the first catcher in MLB history to turn a double play, catch a shutout and hit a walk-off home run in the same game, per OptaSTATS.

xp that's some reaching but I guess with baseball there's such a huge sample size of games it's hard not to be surprised when the first of anything happens.

xp it wasn’t him sneering about him being DFAed. Giants fans were gloating for whatever reason. Good for him.

6 - 4 on this home stand with two series wins and one split. One month in and one game under .500, will take it. No help from Snell but still doing okay.

Was watching Lee the other day, his batting approach is rather unique so I looked up his first 5 weeks of MLB stats.

He primarily bats lead off so you'd expect him to walk a lot... yet he doesn't: 7.2% BB/PA.

That said he doesn't strike out a tremendous amount either: 8.6% K/PA

His MLB OBP (.304) is tracking about 3/4ths of his KBO career (.407), which is worrying enough but his power has simply evaporated in MLB (.071 ISO, .317 SLG) compared to his .340/.407/.491/.898 KBO career line.

He's performing barely replacement level which is a tough swallow for an untradeable OF due to make >$20M/yr in the next 5 years.

You could also calm down about a guy adjusting to a league that’s notably more difficult than the one he came from *checks notes* just over a month into his MLB career
