has there ever been a temporary trade of players, agreed upon in advance? Two teams trading players with the understanding that in a couple years everyone will go back to their original teams?

i know it's kind of ridiculous but i was thinking about that with Carson Kelly (#1 catching prospect, blocked by molina until 2020). it'd be nice to give some playing time on another team for a couple years!

Leake’s contract includes full no-trade protection, so his approval is required for a deal. Notably, he has spoken of his desire to be closer to family in Arizona, so it’s conceivable that motivation (or others) could lead him to waiving the clause.

Dave Cameron: Team announcement said STL sending cash in the deal. Mike Salk, local Seattle radio guy who is pretty plugged in, tweeted that it sounds like M’s will be on hook for about $12M per year.
